WOW! WHAT A NIGHT!
We expected to be able to last until this Sunday with the amount of food we had in stock, but as it turns out our Friday afternoon and evening was a record breaker and we are out of almost every item. Therefore, we will be closing as of this evening.
Sorry for the abrupt change in plans, but we just can't open the doors and then not have the items we need to provide great food and service.
I personally want to thank each and every one of you for your kind words and heartfelt tributes to The Wycombe House, our staff, our chef and cooks, our bartenders, and the support staff... bussers, food runners and hostesses.
This restaurant was a lifelong dream for me, and even though it will not be the legacy I had hoped to leave to my sons, and then thier children, it was still an adventure that I would not trade away.
May each and every one of you have a wonderful and prosperous New Year.
Thank you all.
Jerry Driscoll
We would like to thank everyone for their kind words and well wishes. As many of you know, we are offerring a 40% discount on menu items. The purpose of this is to be sure we do not have food items in stock at closing.
Please be aware if you make a reservation that the item you are hoping for may not be in stock. If we run out of menu selections before Sunday @ 6 PM, we will close earlier.
Again, Thank you for your well wishes and Happy New Year to all.
THE WYCOMBE HOUSE
Farewell Letter
To All Our Valued Guests and Friends
It is with great sadness that we announce the closing of The Wycombe House at 1073 Mill Creek Rd. Wycombe PA. We want to thank all of our wonderful guests and employees for supporting us over this past year. What began as a 142-seat restaurant on a sleepy stretch of Mill Creek Rd. grew into a place that has welcomed tens of thousands of guests and employed some truly wonderful and friendly people over the past year. We are extremely humbled that so many embraced our restaurant, the food and the charm and that we were able to last as long as we have.
Financially it has been a very difficult year for restaurants in general and The Wycombe House was no exception. Inflation caused our food expenses to increase by over 35%. Interest rates quadrupled our mortgage expenses. The PLCB raised liquor prices an average of 27%, and in part, due to the economy in general, people spent less time going out to eat.
We will close our doors permanently on December 31, 2023 at 6 PM. Before we do though, we would like to invite all of our family, friends, and guests to one last hoorah. Beginning this Friday, December 29th, we will be discounting all menu items by 40% and offering discounted drink specials as well. Come one more time and share this time with us, enjoy the food, the friendship and a historic and bucolic Bucks County setting.
As always, “You ain’t gonna get any nouveau, amandine, thin crust, bottled water, sauteed city food here. The food is still brown, hot and there’s plenty of it”.
Sincerely,
Jerry Driscoll
P.S.
This is a decision not made lightly, but was made over the holiday weekend. If you purchased a gift card or scheduled an event with us, please be assured that we will refund your money and we are truly sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

GHOST HOTEL?
Monday September 4th the restaurant was closed for Labor Day. I received a call from our security company that an alarm had been tripped from the upstairs back door. Police had been dispatched. I arrived at about 1 pm and met a Newtown police officer in the parking lot. She informed me that she had arrived a few minutes earlier and had gone up and checked on the door. The door was closed, but not locked. We entered the building and the officer cleared the entire restaurant. We found no evidence of a break-in, other than the unlocked door, and the officer left.
I went to review the security footage for the time that the alarm went off, and found on video the upper door slowly opening inward about 6 inches, then pausing and slowly closing shut. I quickly brought up the outside security cameras and ran back 30 mins prior to 15 minutes after the alarm, reviewing video of the driveways and parking lots to see if there was anybody on the stairs to the second floor, in the driveway, or in the parking lots. I was looking for any reasonable explanation of how a locked door could slowly open and close by itself in the middle of the day.
I found no one. Just a door that is seen being locked on video the night before, and then just slowly opening and closing all by itself the next day.

GHOST HOTEL?
The Wycombe House was built as a hotel, The Wycombe Hotel in 1902 as a resort get-away. Featuring cottages, fishing, boating, and recreational areas, there was also a barbershop, a dance hall, a butcher shop and an ice cream shop. Many people passed through its doors, and perhaps a couple never left?
I am constantly asked if The Wycombe House is haunted. Truthfully, I can not say either way, but there have been a few instances observed by customers and staff that have given pause and the question asked. Are there ghosts at The Wycombe House?
Last week our line cook was in early, doing prep and set-up. He was at the server station pouring a cup of coffee when from the corner of his eye he saw a woman lean out of the ladies’ room door, and then step back in and close the door. Thinking nothing of it, he went back into the prep kitchen and encountered both of the female staff that were in at the time. Asking, “Were either of you just in the ladies’ room”?” They both replied no, and when he went to investigate further, he found the ladies room door open and the motion detection sensor had turned on the light in the hallway.
Now, we will likely never know what happened here that morning, but we will continue to post our encounters and allow you to judge for yourself.
