This week we celebrated employee milestones at our Buffalo headquarters. We were thrilled to recognize and honor numerous employees across all three shifts whose service with Harmac ranges from 10 to an amazing 40 years! We're so appreciative of their efforts, and we thank them -- and all our employees -- who dedicate their lives to creating high-quality, reliable medical products which change the lives of patients around the world.

Our Tijuana team helped to spread the word about the importance of routine cancer screenings and early detection methods by wearing pink this week in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. One in eight women will develop breast cancer, according to the American Cancer Society, but more than 99% beat it -- when detected early. So, tell the women in your life to schedule annual -- and keep funding around the world!

Harmac congratulates all the honorees and winners at last week's Pathways to Success Achievement Awards, which benefitted Goodwill of Western New York. Special kudos go out to President & CEO Tom Ulbrich and our own Melissa Stephan, their board chair, on a successful event that exceeded all goals and expectations!

Yesterday our Buffalo team members showed off their finest pink attire in support of October's Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Cancer touches far too many of our lives, but breast cancer has one of the highest five-year survival rates -- 99.3% according to the American Cancer Society -- when detected early. So, make sure the women in your life are scheduling annual , and keep supporting all types of cancer research around the globe!

This week our Ireland team was pleased to foster its longstanding relationship with the Technological University of the Shannon, Athlone Campus. On Tuesday, a group of first-year polymer and mechanical engineering students toured our facility in Castlerea.ie. Then, on Wednesday, our own Gary Dolan and Sarah Connaughton attended their campus Career Fair, meeting students from a variety of fields of study who one day could join the ranks of the many TUS alumni throughout our company.

We're excited to be heading north of the border next week to attend The MedTech Conference in Toronto! With more than 400 speakers and 3,500 attendees, it's a great way to stay informed on emerging technologies while making valuable new connections. Our Ireland team hosted a visit from Castlerea Community School this week! Close to 20 "Leaving Certificate" students from the secondary school were welcomed by our own Gary Dolan and Carl McEnroe. They were given a plant tour and presentation, along with the opportunity to ask questions and learn about what life is like working in the , and business. Here's hoping we inspired a few future employees!

This week we celebrated the 10th anniversary of our operations in Mexico! Leaders from our Buffalo and Ireland locations joined the party in , where team members enjoyed food, music and lots of fun! What began with just 15 employees has grown to more than 500 colleagues and 160,000 square feet of manufacturing space, all under a great leadership team. We also honored eight employees who have been with us since Day One -- but we thank all our "H3" employees who dedicate their efforts, passions and intelligence to the work we do and the patients whose lives we improve every day.

Congratulations to our two winners of this year's Lew & Betty Somers scholarship in Ireland! They include Holly Gallagher (red sweater), the granddaughter of Sue Gately (with Holly), who has been with Harmac for 25 years! And our second winner is Sofia Hopkova, daughter of two-year Harmac employee Atila Hopka. Both students were presented with certificates by our Ireland team's Managing Director Jarlath Henry.

Recently our President & CEO John Somers served as keynote speaker at Penn State Behrend’s inaugural Corporate Engagement Luncheon, addressing a roomful of leaders from 30 other regional companies, along with numerous students and faculty. Harmac has enjoyed a longstanding partnership with the college, which we believe stems from our similar cultures and commitments to our customers, employees and communities. We’re proud to have supported numerous student initiatives, including a thriving internship program, investments in their educational technology, and real-world learning experiences through visits to our Buffalo and Ireland facilities. We’re also proud to have some among our engineering staff, as we continue to drive innovation and high-quality solutions to meet our customers’ needs.

Today we hosted a vaccine clinic for our employees at our Buffalo headquarters! A dynamic pharmacy duo from Tops Friendly Markets joined us onsite to provide a variety of vaccines to any team members who were interested. They offered flu, RSV, shingles, covid, and more as they helped us to prepare for the winter months ahead and do our best to stay healthy and happy.

Last week our Buffalo team's Wellness Committee hosted a "Hydration Happy Hour," to introduce employees to some healthy beverage options that taste good too! They served water infused with cucumber and orange-basil, giving employees an unexpected treat and the chance to try some new, creative drinks.

Each year our Tijuana team recognizes the efforts of its employees' sons and daughters who perform well in school. Their parents receive student merit awards during the workday, along with gift certificates to help fund school uniforms and supplies. Then, we invite their children to join our team members for a fun weekend event. This year we chose a water park, which we visited last Saturday! It's always exciting to see our employees having such fun with their kids, and Harmac-Tijuana is proud to support and motivate the next generation.

Congratulations to our Buffalo team's summer interns, who shared their experiences and learning takeaways with us yesterday! These college students, whose specialties include plastics, biomedical, mechanical, and aerospace engineering, assisted our quality assurance, project engineering, and process development teams. From software validation and inventory inspection to product testing and troubleshooting, they supported our team in various ways. Kudos to (from left) Mason Lis and Shahir Sanit from the University at Buffalo School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Isabel Mannella from Penn State Behrend, and Ethan Bishara from The Ohio State University College of Engineering. We enjoyed having you and wish you all the best as you complete your degrees!

Back-to-School season is stressful for many families. Children know they'll soon lose their summer freedoms, while parents dread all those expensive school supplies. At Harmac, while we can't make time stand still for the kids, we can at least help with that second part. Today and tomorrow, we're distributing 250 backpacks -- filled with school supplies -- to our Buffalo employees for their children and grandchildren. It's another way we support and thank our team members who give so much of themselves every day to support our company, our patients, and one another.

We were thrilled to be among the first group of companies to participate in the University at Buffalo's new Sophomore Externship Experience -- aka SEE Program! Led by UBuffalo CoLab, the team matches UB sophomores with organizations seeking support on a specific project. We were fortunate to be given Brienne Lange, who spent eight weeks working with our HR team on our training program. The externship concluded with a reception, at which students shared posters about their projects as well as what they learned along the way.
