🚴‍♀️ Shickluna Women’s Ride Update 🚴‍♀️

Wow, what an amazing ride this week! 🎉 Our riders absolutely crushed it, setting our fastest pace to date! 🚀 The communication, bike handling, and pacelining are getting better every week – it’s incredible to see how everyone is improving and working together as a team. 💪

But we’re not stopping here! Next week’s ride is going to level up with an additional 5 miles. See you all next week, ready to ride even stronger! 🌟

🚴‍♂️💨 Today, our group faced off against a formidable opponent: a relentless headwind! 💪 But through teamwork and tight pacelining, we powered through and came out stronger on the other side. 🌬️✨ Nothing beats the feeling of conquering a tough ride together!

After the ride, we stuck around for a super helpful fix-a-flat workshop. Always learning, always improving! 🛠️✨

Ben Shickluna is pictured in front of the original Niagara St. location. Judging by the curbside hand-crank gas pump, the price of gas (15 cents), and the awning displaying “C.B. Shickluna” as the business name as opposed to the earlier “Guiding Star,” we can estimate that this photo was taken in the early 1920s.

Mustafa and Tom represent 51 of the 125 year Shickluna history! Today we received a surprise visit from former owner Tom Pallas who began working at Shickluna’s original Niagara Street location in 1973. Great times catching up.

What a morning of unexpected adventure! 😄 Rolling up to the park only to discover an early 5k planned definitely added a twist to our ride! 🌟 With 21 riders trusting our team to lead them out on the road, including 50% who were new to pacelining and road
riding, it was a day filled with big milestones! 🎉 Huge shoutout to Allison for securing a closed course for us to practice pacelining, with every woman taking a pull like a pro. 👏 And a massive thank you to Steph for being our incredible pit crew! 🙌 Let’s

Gratitude Overflowing! 🙌 What an incredible turnout for today’s Shickluna Women’s Ride event! Community over competition truly shone brightly as 27 phenomenal women united for our inaugural training ride. Yes, you read that right... 27 inspiring souls braved
the chilly 40º April weather to pedal together. 🌬️❄️ We bonded, we learned, and we conquered the road as one, mastering group hand signals, safety protocols, and the art of pace lining. And guess what? We cruised at an average speed of nearly 16mph.🚴‍♀️💨
The energy and enthusiasm these ladies brought from start to finish was simply infectious. Huge shoutout to every single rider who showed up with a smile and left with an even bigger one! 😊 But the love doesn’t stop there. Immense gratitude to our incredible
support squad - the unsung heroes behind the scenes who made today possible. A massive thank you to friends of the Shickluna- Allison, and Jenny, and our amazing Shickluna team members, Sophie, Halle, and Melissa. Here’s to many more empowering rides together!

A special gift arrived at the shop today 🎁. A happy 125th anniversary present from former Shickluna owner Tom Pallas.

Poet Robert Creeley drew up this piece of work on 5/31/1998 in exchange for a couple of tune-ups.

Robert Creeley was widely recognized as one of the most important and influential American poets of the 20th century. Tom Pallas had asked to keep the poem when he sold the shop to Mustafa. We are super excited to have it make its way back to Shickluna.
