4th of July Facts:
1. The Declaration of Independence was not signed on July 4, 1776. That’s actually the day it was formally adopted by the Continental Congress, but it wasn’t signed by most signatories until August.
2. Americans typically eat 150 million hot dogs on Independence Day, “enough to stretch from D.C. to L.A. more than five times,” according to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council.
3. Three presidents have died on July 4: Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and James Monroe.
Football Squares:
Friendly football reminder,
Please remind your friends that don’t read
the Antler. Please see Kathy Monaghan on any

From Our ER:
Hello to everyone,
June was a busy month. Our Flag Day ceremony
was very moving. Thanks to Eddie for doing a
great job of organizing the ceremony. Special
thanks to Tom Roach, the Girl Scouts, Lois, Jeff,
Dave 13 and Bernie Payne for participating that
day. This year we were able to give donation
checks to both Wings of Flight and Buffalo-
Niagara Honor Flight during the ceremony.
Well, summer is finally here. However, it was a
little too warm for a few days. Elks care, Elks
share!! Please try to check on elderly friends and
neighbors in these extreme temperatures.
Grand Lodge awards were given out at our June
meeting. Citizen of the Year was given to Andy
"Duffy" Maess. Elks of the Year was given to
Eddie Stulhmiller. Congrats to both, well
deserved!
I would like to go over once more on exactly what
was voted/approved by the House committee.
The regular meetings are always held on the
second Monday of the month. The House/Trustee
meeting is held on the first Monday of the month.
There are only 4 months that we have a second
meeting on the 4th Monday. The months when
we have two meetings are: February, March, April
and October. On these two meeting months, the
House/Trustee will be held on the second
Monday at 6pm, before the regular first meeting.
Please make note of this change.
To sum things up, this month is different, due to
the holiday, July 8th is when our House/Trustee
meeting will be at 6pm. Our regular meeting will
follow at 7pm. Thank you.
Thanks to everyone who supported the Basket
Raffle with donating baskets and buying tickets.
Also, thanks to our members who have supported
the various bands this summer. Working together,
we can make a difference.
God bless America!
Wear R.E.D. on Fridays.
Fraternally yours,
Nancy Swiston

Flag Day:
The Flag Day program, conducted by our officers, was held Saturday, June 15th on our patio. I completely agree with our ER, the ceremony was very impressive. PDDGER Jeff Becker gave the History of the Flag and PSVP Lois Burns gave the response. Flags were present by Girl Scout Troop 30174 They were Tayla Becker, Shannon Diane and Olivia Marello. Music was provided by Lois Burns and Edwin Stuhlmiller. DDGER Bernaard Payne from Dunkirk Lodge gave an inspiring speech and David Marcizewski (US Navy retired) played the Boatswain’s Pipe.
Joe DeMarco from Wings Flight of Hope and Dennis Priore from the Buffalo-Niagara Honor Flight were in attendance to receive $500 donations.
A special thanks to Tom Roach, from Twin Cities Lodge #860 for
assisting with the program.
ER Nancy Swiston did an excellent job running the program

2024-05-18, Rockin' Robin at the Elks Lodge 1942. What a fun time.
Ken-Ton Elks Lodge 1942 Flag Day ceremony, June 15th. After a fabulous program, we proudly presented financial support to Joe DeMarco, from Wings Flight of Hope, as well as to Dennis Priore representing Buffalo-Niagara Honor Flight. It's important to know that both organizations are supported fully by volunteers!

From Our ER:
Hi to all,
The month of May has flown by. Speaking of flying,
we had many flags flying in the Elmlawn cemetery
this year. Thanks to all the members who put them
up and took them down. This is something I really
look forward to every year.
Update: I just want to review, the months of
February, March, April and October are the four
months we have two regular meetings. Please
note, what was just voted on by the House
committee. On the one meeting months, the House
& Trustee will be on that first Monday. On the four
months when we have two meetings, the House &
Trustee meeting will be on the night of our first
regular meeting.
To sum things up, June 3rd is our House & Trustee
meeting at 6pm. On June 10th, this is our regular
meeting, where we will be doing the Grand Lodge
awards at 7pm. The bar will be open after that
meeting on the 10th. Please bring snacks to
celebrate our award winners.
The entertainment at our lodge is up and running.
Thanks to Linda Beutner for the karaoke and
Nancy Smith for the great line-up of bands. Please
join us for these fun times.
The weather on Memorial Day had us all sitting on
the edge of our seats. Some parades were
canceled, but ours wasn't. Thankfully the weather
cleared up that day. Special kudos to all who
participated in the parade and the after-parade
party at the lodge.
June will be a busy month starting with the
Homecoming at Lockport at 1pm on June 1st.
Thanks to Susan Griffith and Bernie Payne for their
service with NYS Elks. Summer is just around the
corner.
God bless America!

Flag Day:
Did you know this holiday celebrated each year on June
14th commemorates the adoption of the flag of the
United States on June 14,1777 by resolution of the
Second Continental Congress.
In 1916 Pres. Woodrow Wilson proclaimed June 14 as
the official date for Flag Day, and in 1949 the U.S.
Congress permanently established the date as National
Flag Day. Although Flag Day is not an official federal
holiday, Pennsylvania celebrates the day as a state
holiday. Each year the U.S. president delivers an address
that proclaims the week of June 14 as National Flag
Week, and all Americans are encouraged to fly U.S. flags
during that week.
