Battin Eyecare has invested in Right Eye technology, which is an FDA approved computer system to record and analyze small, indiscernible eye movements. The Right Eye is used before and after our vision therapy program to evaluate progress. We can also evaluate a baseline of an athlete’s eye motions and repeat after potential concussion. The Right Eye tracks dynamic eye motions, as well as how a patient reads.

What is Myopia Management?

Myopia management includes methods to slow down the progression of near-sightedness in children and young adults. Having a large amount of nearsightedness greatly increases risk for a variety of eye diseases, including retinal detachments, glaucoma, and early onset of cataracts. Speciality contact lenses and eye drops can be prescribed to help slow down progression of myopia to prevent these co-morbidities. If your child is near-sighted, and is frequently needing changes in their prescription each year, intervening with myopia management methods may be greatly beneficial as they continue to grow!

Are you currently experiencing dry eye?

Dry eye is a very common eye disease we see in our offices every day. Symptoms include intermittent blurry vision that improves after blinking, foreign body sensation, itching, burning, tearing. Untreated dry eye can cause long term complications to the cornea, including ulcers and inability to wear contact lenses. New research even points to a correlation between having dry eye and depression. Therefore dry eye evaluation and treatment is a crucial staple in our patient management.

-if you are experiencing any of the above symptoms it’s important you come in for an eye exam. We evaluate both tear flow from the lacrimal gland and the lipid component from the oil glands of your eyelids on every patient we see. There’s actually both liquid and oil component that make up your tear film, and both are equally important to keeping eyes hydrated and healthy.

Once we establish the root cause and severity of your symptoms, we can treat appropriately including:
artificial tears, prescription eye drops, warm compresses, sleep masks, punctual plugs, amniotic membrane placement, and omega 3 supplementation.

We can also help you navigate enviornmental factors that may be contributing- such as humidity, dust in work environment, water intake, and medications.
