FIVE STAR FRIDAY. “We had 3 estimates, but SEUD stood out from the rest. The options are great and allowed us to match our underdeck to our porch. The staff was helpful. Now we are having SEUD add screens. It’s made our backyard complete.”

THROWBACK THURSDAY. Sometimes you take a step into someone’s outdoor space, and you forget where you are. Today’s Throwback Thursday brings to mind a coastal cabana more than a Georgia suburb, and it’s the perfect example of how a modest-sized space can make a big impact on your outdoor living space. This particular customer upgraded to a custom, 2-line beadboard panel, giving the underdeck panels a look similar to tongue-in-groove. The dark color of the panel lends to the laid-back vibe, and the offset color of the trim and gutter gives a visual break that makes the deck feel a little taller. A single fan mount cools the area off, and a few odds and ends like wicker furniture, a tiki torch, and some statement greenery tie it all together. It’s one of our favorite projects!!

BEFORE AND AFTER. Today’s Before and After demonstrates how well our system blends with your existing design. Our customer here started with a covered porch with a beadboard ceiling adjacent to his open deck. His needs were not simply to keep the space dry, but also match the underdeck ceiling to his existing covered porch. WIth Southeastern Underdeck, he got to upgrade his smooth panel texture to an embossed beadboard panel, creating a look that carries over between the two spaces. It finishes off an already great space–a grill deck and dining area overlooking a pool. We’re proud to have been a part of it!!

The underdeck has been awesome as one of our first steps along with the basement remodel. It’s made the perfect hang-out space while we plan the rest of our back yard remodel.”

BEFORE AND AFTER. This project from a few years ago started with a dire situation. The deck was in poor shape on its own, but the problems with the deck also caused water to leak into the wall of the basement. Added to this, half the deck is dug in behind a retaining wall, so it doesn’t allow much natural light into the space. As members of NADRA, our sales team is equipped with education to help our customers identify and solve problems with their deck. Our sales rep worked with the customer’s contractor, recommending improvements to the deck to make it safer and increase its lifespan, and then we got to work. After we finished, the customer got a new hot tub, new outdoor furniture, and set up their smoker. What once was a dull, uninviting, lifeless space is now the spill over from the basement bar and movie room!! Come back tomorrow as Ben walks us through this truly transformative job!!

Once the underdeck was complete and the pool was in, we realized it didn’t make sense not to finish our basement—so now we have a full entertainment suite on our lower floor. The underdeck truly brings the two spaces together.”

THROWBACK THURSDAY. This is one of the more creative uses of a space that we’ve ever seen, and it’s such a simple idea. Take a deck that has an irregular shape, but still lends itself to creating different areas–underdeck it, and then screen in the left and right portions, leaving the center open, for a unique spin on a covered porch. This layout creates distinct areas out of a single space, creating a greater sense of space and getting more out of the footage than would otherwise be possible. Creative projects like this are fun to think through and even more fun to show off, so we hope you enjoy checking it out as much as we enjoyed putting it together!!

BEFORE AND AFTER. We got involved with this job before the pool was even dug out of the ground; it’s not uncommon that we come in when the whole project is in progress. It’s exciting when we get to see the finished product!! This underdeck ended up spurring the homeowner into even bigger remodeling projects than he initially planned, from the starting point of a sleek and modern pool deck and grill area to an entire basement remodel. Here you see a two-tone system where the customer opted to upgrade both their panel texture and their trim.
