When someone consults with me for starter locs the pictures illustrates the texture and condition I’m expecting you to show up with. However, a large amount of people show up with hair conditions that will not live up to the pictures they’re referencing. Theirs a large disconnect between the starting process and the mature results. We cannot jump ahead.

Get Twysted is accepting new clients for starter locs only. We do not service newly cultivated or mature locs started and maintained by another loctician. Our focus is to service individuals who have never had locs or for those individuals to whom the experience of locs has not met their expectations.

Our loc service is geared towards young ADULTS ages 18 to 34 with no scalp or hair trauma. We specialize in establishing traditional locs using the comb coil grid (C- part formation), instant locs with the interlocking method and maintenance.

The Twysted experience is an experience that allows you to be totally involved in this new journey. Our master Loctician has over twenty five plus years in continued education, product research/product usage and starter loc techniques.

We do not specialize or qualify to treat hair loss. We can only assist in restoring minimum to moderate hair breakage by creating a treatment regimen which can include, steam treatments, scalp massages and cleanses. In addition if you’re experiencing hair loss we will refer you to a hair loss specialist.

Any hair type can be loc'd be it straight, curly or kinky. With that being said is it ok to lock damaged hair? The damages I speak of are heat, color, split ends, dry and brittle hair. The answer is NO!

In this picture she has heat damage but It’s not always easy to convey the obvious that these ends need to GO. Ideally you want strong healthy hair throughout to avoid breakage and thin, weak spots, gaps along the newly formed cylinders.

What will end up happening is from the root to mid way down the shaft the hair will look healthy and the remaining shaft will look thin and weak.

Once you decide that you want to lock you MUST start preparing your hair for the process. The stronger and well maintained your hair is the better looking your locs will be from beginning to end. Starting locs is like baking a cake you have to have the right ingredients.

What I do.
If your hair needs care I can provide deep conditioning, cut/trim, steam treatments, protein treatment, natural styling without synthetic/human hair. I encourage a good diet and exercise program or even a dermatologist help. Once your hair is strong enough we can proceed with starting locs.

If we feel that your scalp needs to be looked at by a dermatologist we will assist you in first finding a doctor and then follow through with the doctors recommendations towards a healthier scalp.
