Windsong was incorporated in 1987 as a flexible alternative to the often rigid training approach of typical schools. Our Story
For Dave Crumbley, or Captain Dave as he's known to many, sailing is a lifelong passion. Having grown up in a family of adventure-seeking boaters, he spent most of his life on the water. He truly enjoyed the performance aspects of sailing, including racing, which eventually earned him "Auxiliary Skipper of the Year" in 1987. That same year, he opened Windsong Sailing Academy. Ever since, he and his team have been teaching people to sail through a comprehensive collection of in-depth classes that are tailored to individual needs of each student. His unique talent is the ability to simplify the complexities of sailing to ensure that students have fun while learning. His favorite quote is that all his students were required to bring was the "Spirit for Adventure," and he'd supply all the rest. That unique ability has produced some very accomplished sailors ranging from weekenders to those who have moved their families aboard their own sailboats and are now cruising exotic destinations.
