🧡🦋March is MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS AWARENESS Month🦋🧡
🔸Multiple sclerosis, or MS, is a disease of the central nervous system that can cause symptoms throughout the body ranging from difficulty walking to bladder dysfunction to changes in memory and thinking abilities.
🔸MS is believed to be an autoimmune condition, in which the immune system mistakenly attacks the myelin sheath that normally protects the nerve fibers in the brain, spinal cord and optic nerve. As the myelin sheath is gradually destroyed, the resulting scar tissue (sclerosis) disrupts the electrical impulses between the brain and other parts of the body.
🔸To raise awareness of the disease, a number of societies and advocacy groups have named March Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month. It's a time to bring attention to the current state of research on MS, including new ways to diagnose and treat the condition.
🧡🦋Throughout March, you may see orange ribbons adorned with a butterfly symbol. Orange is the official color for MS awareness, and the butterfly represents the shape commonly seen on a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan of a brain of a person with MS.🦋🧡

😴Did you know that sleep can affect your heart?😴
How well you sleep may have an impact on how healthy your heart is. According to the CDC, adults typically need at least seven hours of sleep every night. The amounts are higher for kids, and they vary by age.
If you're trying to get more or better sleep, consider these tips from the CDC:
*Make sure your bedroom is dark, quiet and cool.
*Avoid eating or drinking too close to bed time (avoid alcohol and sugar in particular).
*Use a blue light filter on your phone or computer to reduce your exposure to artificial light a few hours before bed.
*Get enough exercise during the day, but don't work out too close to bed time.
*Keep a strict sleep schedule with the same bed time and wakeup time every day.

❓❓Medication Old Wives' Tales or Truth❓❓
1. MYTH: Natural medications are safer than prescriptions🚫
Natural supplements may seem like a safer alternative to prescription medications, but there are a few things to consider. First, these supplements are not regulated as drugs by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This means that manufacturers don’t have to prove that these products are effective, nor do they have to provide safety information.
2. MYTH: OTC sleep aids are better than prescription sleep aids🚫
Over-the-counter (OTC) sleep aids may help you fall asleep occasionally, but you'll need to keep a few things in mind. Most OTC sleep aids contain antihistamines. This can pose a few problems, especially if you are already taking an antihistamine for allergies. The duplicate therapy may cause unwanted side effects.
3. MYTH: Antibiotics can cure all types of infections🚫
Antibiotics can only treat infections caused by bacteria, such as some pneumonia, strep throat, and urinary tract infections, among others. This means antibiotics actually won’t help with colds or the flu because these medications do not treat viruses.

She is more precious than rubies, nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor.
Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her; those who hold her fast will be blessed.✝️ Proverbs 3:13-18
