It wasn’t enough to tell them that they were beautiful wearing their natural hair. They do as they see… not as you say 😩

It wasn’t until I started to wear my natural hair everyday whether the braid out was fire 🔥 or a dud 💩 that their definition of beauty changed.

Most of our minds 🧠have been programmed to the European standard of beauty and that has been especially hazardous to my community’s health and hair.

I knew the dangers of never being accurately represented on television programs 📺or movies 🎥 and don’t get me started on the music 🎶 industry and how toxic the images of black women that are misrepresented to us for the sake of calling it entertainment 🤷🏾‍♀️ 🗣️I said what I said…

I knew that my children 👶🏾would not be sucked into believing that their beauty was not worthy of being cherished and celebrated. 🙅🏾‍♀️

I believe that self-image and confidence are directly connected 🪢and that we should all make an effort to nourish both our bodies and minds.🧘🏾‍♀️👸🏾

By embracing our natural hair and features, we can break free from these harmful beauty standards and empower ourselves and those around us. When you have the courage to be yourself fully, you inspire others to do the same. 💪🏾
