Mass. Laborers Benefit Funds
Benefits for LIUNA Families.
Safety is one of the most important things to consider on a construction site. We are proud to support measures that keep Laborers safe and remind everyone to wear PPE, stay hydrated, and be aware of your surroundings.
Reminder to save your pay stubs! Protect your future benefits, and find a safe place to save your stubs. If any problems arise, keeping your records organized is essential.
Our Legal Services Fund can help Laborers with various legal issues, including buying a home, representation in criminal matters, probating estates, addressing domestic disputes, and more. We offer legal counsel without charge for up to 3 qualifying cases per year. For any legal questions, contact us first: 781-273-3939
Today, we honor Juneteenth, commemorating the emancipation of the last enslaved people in the United States. At the Massachusetts Laborers’ Benefit Funds, we remain steadfast in our commitment to advancing racial equity and fostering inclusion within organized labor. Together, let's continue the journey toward a more just and equitable future for all.
Your eligibility for Health and Welfare coverage is determined by the number of hours you worked in the qualifying 12-month period. Plan A requires 1,000 recorded hours; Plan B requires 700 recorded hours. If you find yourself short on hours to qualify, you can elect COBRA continuation coverage. If you have queries about your eligibility status, visit our website at https://www.mlbf.org/health-welfare/ or contact our office directly at 781-272-1000 to speak with a staff member.
Happy Father’s Day from the Massachusetts Laborers’ Benefit Funds. Enjoy your day today, dads!
Remember to pencil in those annual check-ins with your doctor—they're essential for keeping tabs on your health. While you're there, your provider might check your blood pressure, cholesterol, and other routine preventive screenings. Of course, if you have other questions or concerns, now might be the time to ask. It's all about staying on top of your health.
During this National Safety Month, Massachusetts Laborers’ Benefit Funds is proud to support strong safety standards for workers, which is one of many benefits of unions.
Important update: The Plan will now cover over-the-counter (OTC) NARCAN (naloxone) nasal spray as part of the Plan’s prescription drug benefit administered by Express Scripts. Find out more about OTC Narcan coverage here: https://www.mlbf.org/coverage-change-for-otc-narcan/
LEAN Laborers’ Recovery Specialists are available 24/7 to help you and your family members get and maintain sobriety. Call 1-844-423-LEAN (5326).
Construction work is known to have some of the highest rates of hearing loss. If you think you are having trouble hearing, it might be a good idea to get screened.
A reminder that, if you need hearing aids, your benefits cover up to $1,200 per hearing aid once every 5 years! Book an appointment through HearUSA https://www.hearusa.com/ or call 800.442.8231 to discuss hearing solutions.
June marks National Men’s Health Month—a time to prioritize wellness and encourage healthy habits for men. Don’t let anything hinder your journey towards your goals and living life to the fullest. On this Memorial Day, we honor and remember the extraordinary bravery and ultimate sacrifice of those who have courageously served our country.
REMINDER: Make sure your explanation of benefits matches your bill. After a visit to the doctor, you should receive an “Explanation of Benefits” that explains what was covered by insurance versus what you need to pay. It’s important to make sure this information matches your bill so that you don’t pay more than is necessary. Need help? Contact MLBF at 781-272-1000.
ATTENTION LABORERS: Registration is FULL for the upcoming Know Your Benefits event on June 2. Please note, we cannot accept walk-ins on that day.
If you are on the waitlist, we will notify you if a spot becomes available. Thank you to all who registered, we are looking forward to a wonderful event!
Legal proceedings related to divorce and custody can be difficult and emotional. It's National Women’s Health Week! Ladies, prioritize your health with regular screenings and preventive care. Your well-being matters.
As part of an annual physical, women should talk to their providers about:
- Starting at age 21, women should get a Pap test to screen for cervical cancer every three years.
- Talk to your provider about when to schedule your mammogram and colonoscopy. These vital screenings are based on general recommendations, plus your family and personal health history.
- The HPV vaccine can prevent several kinds of cancer, and the hepatitis B vaccine can help prevent liver cancer. Make sure all of your vaccinations are up-to-date.
Your physician can provide you with additional information about screenings and preventive care. Family health history and other factors can also determine individual recommendations, so check in with your doctor to determine what is best for you.
