If you are someone who has followed fad diets or severely restricted your diet to quickly lose weight, you will likely have to gain some weight before you can healthfully lose fat — regardless of your starting weight. This approach can be discouraging, but it is vital if you want to truly recover from the negative impact of restrictive eating.

In our latest blog post, we discuss a case study showing how the body heals from restrictive eating. Read here: https://bit.ly/3WmfznU

It’s not surprising that body image issues often increase during the summer months. Some research suggests that over 90 percent of women are disappointed with their bodies — and many of these insecurities are put on full display as the weather heats up. ☀️

This uptick in negative body image is particularly challenging for individual eating disorders. Read more about summer body image and simple steps to improve your body image here: https://bit.ly/4d8xzZH

While some individuals fit into the classic eating disorder categories (like anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa), many do not fit into these categories. They often have elements of one eating disorder combined with facets of others. This is known as OSFED. As a result, this patient population has been neglected and often becomes very sick.

With our machines at The Kahm Clinic, we are exceptionally good at honing in on the problem, and because we can see the problem so clearly, we can help this population. Learn more here: https://bit.ly/2DxbeK4

Oftentimes, people come into The Kahm Clinic concerned that they have an eating disorder but also thinking that they’re okay or not “sick enough” to need treatment. Why do they believe that? Because their doctor says so! Usually, they’ve gone to the primary care physician with their worry and been told that they’re at a normal weight for their height. In some cases, their physician may even complete a blood work panel with normal results.
