Closing office starting Nov 21, hope to reopen Dec 14. - https://mailchi.mp/65830910dee6/closing-office-starting-nov-21-hope-to-reopen-dec-14
Last Friday’s announcement from Governor Scott has reminded me about the choice I’ve been not wanting to make. To close office before the potential Thanksgiving-Covid wave, or stay open and close only if Governor Scott calls it, if numbers spike a week or so after Thanksgiving.

Out of an abundance of caution and care for the higher risk community members among us, I’m deciding to be proactive, not reactive. Click link for more:

Such a wonderful summary for releasing stress/discomfort by going through it towards ease.

Working on a new 'brochure sign'. What do you think about the design? It's actual size will be 16"x 20"

Save 20% off a massage/yoga session on Saturday! (8/8)
This is just an FYI that a massage or yoga therapy session with me is 20% off (on Saturday 8/8). If you are unable to come in but know of a friend who is, this offer is available to them if they mention this email (It's a better deal than the "new client special" and you'd earn a $20 credit for referring).
With gratitude,
Jared :)

If your back is feeling tight, join me on Sunday evening for a "spinal muscle massage night"!
Bring a towel and small blanket, a wine bottle, and two-tennis-balls-in-a-sock if you've got them.
We'll begin with a body check-in, hip flexor release/massage & stretch. The low back often likes this one ☺️ Then we'll work our way up the spine, easing through intersections with latissimus dorsi, rhomboids, trapezius, etc. Coming to a deep rest within neck muscles; to release your jaw and free your mind of it's Earthly constraints.

I just want to share that I've been super duper tired these past few weeks... And it's -interestingly- different that the "usual" tired.
It feels more like I'm experiencing fatigue leaving my mind/body/sprit, than accumulating in it. Like a draining, settling sensation.
It's good! I think it's confirmation that I'm doing the appropriate therapies for my healing.
I imagine that trauma is like pressure. Trauma expands with time/reoccurrences and gets increasingly difficult to contain as fatigue sets in.
Maybe when trauma (aka hypervigilance?) is releasing, it can feel like a depressurizing. As hypervigilance releases, an awareness of just how exhausted the body got while maintaining the hypervigilance is revealed. So while I feel more tired now, it curiously feels like a step in the right direction.
Now, I am intuiting that if I take more allowances/opportunities for rest, than maybe I'll have even more therapeutic gains!
Does this make sense to anyone else? I'm curious of others thoughts on this phenomenon. I'm thoroughly experimenting on myself with all of these different mind/body/sprit therapies. Combining different self-care modalities with external professional care is creating an interesting overall therapeutic experience for me!
Anywho, just thought of sharing this experience and initiating an opportunity to chat about it :)

I really like this flow chart created by . It's clear from my experience that focusing on breath while releasing tension/stored discomfort, allows the tension to dissipate with less effort... Rather than continuing the fight against it.
The only thing I'd add to this is the importance of pacing. Pacing of breath, pacing of subtle and general movements, pacing of overall pushing + pulling of tissues. As sensitivity increases & refines, the pace of breath & movement slows.
For bodies to release tension/pain, it needs to trust the mind's benevolent intention. Slowing down when the body communicates concern loudly is a demonstration of listening; it's trust building.
Allow tension/discomfort to dissipate, don't force it :)

After chatting with a friend about how I stay centered while in chaos, I realized it could be a multi-meme! This is where my understanding of how to work with chaos is currently at. This is -and I am- very much a work in progress :)
[Chat excerpt]
"Oh yeah, staying centered in the chaos is likely THE theme of my life's work. It's what I'm truly studying, I think.
My strategies have evolved over the years. Right now it's about allowing the chaos to be what it is and I focus on grounding/stabilizing myself. I often visualize that I'm a willow tree in a windstorm. Or a sail boat riding storm winds.
I root to my Center. (Center=identity. Not meaning my roles/professions, but my individual core values and passions.)
Then I notice that as the wind blows chaotically around me, it's giving off energy. With awareness and intention, I can feel how to blend my efforts INTO the energy. Like a sail boat catching and using the wind, the sail boat isn't controlling the wind, but it's being propelled by it. (The sail has to be rooted to the boat for it to work though!)
So in summary, 1. deeply connect to your purpose in life, your passions and values. Let the knowledge of them support your sense of Self. 2. Feel the chaos as outside of you, not IN you. If it feels like it's in you than you need to reaffirm step 1 until it's solidified enough for step 2. You are -in fact- a radiant being of light 🌟
3. Follow your heart to 'catch the wind', propel yourself towards where your needs are taking you. Then the chaos feels useful and purposeful. The chaos exists for you.
Does this make sense or is it too esoteric?"

Behold! The latest development in corona-era massage fashion: the face-cradle sling! With this new technology, you'll be far more comfortable laying face down while still having your face covered. I'm also envisioning adding a drop of lavender or eucalyptus essential oil for added therapeutic awesomeness, optional per client request. (This is just a comfort option, you're welcome to wear whatever face covering you'd like:)

Are textile arts in my future? Maybe I should stick with wellness arts... These seams are πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯ though!
