This May, we inducted three incredible people into the RunVermont Hall of Fame. They are Patrick Standen (Athlete of Distinction), Ed Kusiak (Coaches Award), and Andrew Tripp (Coaches Award).
๐๐ฝ Join us in applauding these incredible inductees:
๐ Patrick Standen has displayed incredible versatility and accomplishments in numerous sports over many decades, including biathlon, Nordic skiing, handcycling, kayaking, marathons, rowing, sailing, sled hockey, swimming, triathlons, and weightlifting. Standen has repeatedly medaled at the Empire State Winter Games and New England Wheelchair Games, and has achieved victories at the M&T Bank Vermont City Marathon. He has inspired adaptive athletes with his unflappable determination. Patrick has played a pivotal role in increasing access and inclusivity for athletes through his work with the Northeast Disabled Athletic Association, helping integrate wheeled athletes into events like the Vermont City Marathon.
๐ Ed Kusiak spent over three decades elevating the University of Vermont's track and field program before retiring in 2003, also serving as UVMโs head coach for Cross Country. During his tenure, he led the UVM women's team to three consecutive America East championships from 2000-2002, including a dominant performance at the 2000 America East Outdoor Championships. Kusiak coached 43 athletes enshrined in the UVM Athletic Hall of Fame, including two future Olympians and numerous NCAA All-Americans. He was a three-time America East Coach of the Year and received the Vermont Leaders in Fitness and Sports Award in 2003.
๐ Andrew Tripp has built an endurance sports dynasty at U-32 High School, leading the cross country and track teams to over 30 state championship titles. The U-32 boys' cross country team has won eight consecutive state championships from 2016-2023 under his guidance. In 2021, Tripp's team made history by winning the New England regional championships. Recognized as the National Boys' Coach of the Year in 2020, Trippโs coaching extends beyond practice, fostering a team-first culture and relentless year-round commitment. His influence has also propelled the U-32 girls' teams to state cross country titles in 2017, 2020, 2022, and 2023.
