We can’t wait to share this with you!
My Spring Break Boarding Crew ❤️🐾 Being able to see some familiar faces and spend time with past students is my absolute favorite.
Even after months/years have passed since some of these dogs had their initial training programs.. it warms my heart how much they still enjoy being me!
I’m so very blessed to be able to give my past clients some peace knowing their dogs have a “home away from home” while they are away
For any past board and train or Day Train clients: I do offer in home boarding! Though my availability can be limited, it’s always worth it to reach out and ask if I have space 🐾
Since Cheif is a busy boy, PLACE is a perfect command to introduce in his life to help him and his owners succeed!
Here is a real world example of how I started shaping the place command in the beginning of his program!
Now he is relaxing and holding place with many distractions going on around him without struggling! But, it’s training session like these that got us here 🐾
Please note: this command was taught and formed in a low distraction environment before this video! Adding in more difficult distractions (example: another dog, longer duration expectations, distance) is something that should be built up to!
We are so excited to announce the launch of our updated free Calm Dog Walking guide!
Our free guide is designed to give you some
basic tips and tricks that will help you lead a more calm and enjoyable walk with your pup. This guide will be the best first step to starting to cultivate the walk of your dreams
For those looking for more in depth and actionable step by step guidance on HOW to truly create this kind of walk, stay tuned for our FIRST ONLINE PROGRAM coming 🌟 APRIL 1ST 🌟
We will have more information coming soon 🐾

The sun is shining, it’s Friday ANDDDD we have a special birthday!! Happy 5th birthday, Murphy 🫶🏻🎉 Puppy party tonight?? YES PLEASE
All hands are on deck these next couple of days for this crazy crew!
Using the PLACE command for some passive training is one of my favorite ways to safely socialize
It’s good to know that true socialization is NOT just about play. To me, a well socialized pup is one that can EXIST in the environment around them and behave
Some of these dogs are very nervous with other dogs and don’t want them their personal space.. and that is okay!
Forcing dogs to interact will never be something that I preach.. But, teaching them how to exist around what triggers them is important! This is amazing impulse control work and confidence building for everyone involved ❤️
With a mixture of boarding and new training pups, our kennel room is officially full 🐾🫶🏻

The OUTSIDE of a dog park is one of my favorite places to train. Especially for dogs who struggle with reactivity!
Here we are using Murphy and Ofi to show you how we work dogs in this kind of environment to help build their confidence around their triggers and teach them how to regulate their brains while their triggers are around
It’s important to note that all of these skills were taught and patterned in easier settings before we came here!
Ofi finished his 20 day program today and is back home with his mom! She of course she will have to continue/maintain all of the work we put in to keep him successful. But I’m so pleased with how far he came in his program!
Murphy also went home today for his weekend of practice before he comes back on Monday to finish out the rest of his 20 day program
We get a lot of reactive pups through our doors, it’s probably one of the most common behaviors I see!
If you have a dog like Murphy or Ofi that struggles with reactivity, we would love to help you!

With a mixture of training and boarding dogs we have had a lot of faces come through over the 7 days! I’d say we’ve been pretty spoiled with the all cuteness around here lately🙈 🐾
Who said school needed to be all rules and no fun… because that’s definitely not the case over here at K9U 🤪
Lots of happy pups today 🫶🏻

Whose dog is afraid of the vacuum? 🙋🏼♀️
Many dogs aren’t a fan of the loud and “scary” machine that is necessary to have around a house.
Most dogs (like paco) run and hide when it comes out, some dogs bark at it and some dogs even try to bite it/attack it!
Teaching a solid duration command like place can be a great way to work out dogs through our fears! You could also use a down/stay as well :)
I use this same idea to work dogs through many different fears/struggles ! Giving our dogs a “job” to work on while scary things are happening around them is a great way to work them through it
Paco came in afraid of almost everything.. so giving him a job to listen to/focus on has been great for his confidence building. This is because he now knows how to successfully show up in each scenario 🐾🫶🏻
Have a dog like Paco? I’d love to help :)

After a long weekend home with his family for practice, Logan is back in for the second half of his hybrid 20 day board and train!
Logan is 8 years old and originally came in struggling with some fear aggression, rescource guarding, reactivity and listening issues.
Last week Logan and I spent a lot of time inside learning/proofing all of these skills. He was a very nervous dude so taking things slow for him was important.
Now that he’s ready, I’m starting to take everything outside so we can start forming a relaxing walk and build up Logan’s confidence in more stimulating environments!
Before we even get to the walk, I’m taking time to go backwards a bit and find where he may be struggling
Changing scenery (even if it’s just moving to your driveway) is always challenging for dogs! That’s why it’s so important to practice your skills everywhere. That way you and your dog are set up for the most success.
Check out one of our sessions today and what we worked through ❤️

Buck has been back with us for boarding and he’s still as cute as can be!
While his family is away, I’ve been spending a lot of time keeping up with all the skills and manners he learned while he was with us for a 10 day board and train last July ❤️
Here are some areas that I’ve been working with him on for his continued success!
(Don’t worry, there has been lots of cuddles included too 🥰)
I’ve decided to start a series where I show small snippets of training sessions that I do with my dogs coming in! I’m hoping the small tips on each video will help someone with their dog at home ❤️
To start the series off strong, we have a session from yesterday with Millie!
Millie is in with us for basic training foundations. One of her biggest struggles is controlling her mindset and knowing how to listen/stay calm when she gets excited/anxious in any way (sooo common!)
Here we have Millie in a new setting (my upstairs). You can see in the beginning of the video she wants to be crazy, and how I work her through it to get a calm mind at the end
If you have a dog that struggles with listening when they’re excited, this is exactly how I would starting working them through it. Build to the “harder” things once you and your dog are feeling more confident!
Tips
- all of these skills need to be taught and practiced in a low distraction environment before moving to a harder environment
- LEASH ON
- start with movement (engaging with you) and build into durations (stays)
- stay next to them
As we continue, she will need a lot less guidance from me and I’ll be able to do more things. Until then, I’ll be there every step of the way to guide her when she needs it
Millie (left) started training last week and Archie (right) has been the best supporter/friend to help her pick up on her new skills!
Archie boy went through training a couple of months ago and has been back in for boarding while his family has been away.
These 2 have been 2 peas in a pod and absolutely adore each others company. So, to get some extra practice in for Archie, I figured I’d throw him into some of her sessions for support ❤️
This is also so great for Millie’s mindset control as she always wants to play and be silly. So having times with Archie around where she has to control her brain and listen (instead of wrestling/playing) is a huge plus! At home Millie Struggles heavily with excitement when people come over. She just wants to play and get attention! Which is no different than her mindset with Archie.
Of course we practice this with new people as well to proof her training but the more practice she can get with overall mindset control the better.
Remember folks, everything is connected when it comes to training your dog! If you have a hard time setting up certain scenarios for your dog to practice, try to get creative on where the same mindset may be happening elsewhere 🙂

Leo was back in for a couple days last week to continue to work through his confidence building, listening skills and slowing down his mindset!
While he was with me, it was important that I got creative with his training to really push him and see where he still needs work.
Since we had to finish cleaning up some leaves and yard work, I figured why not take out one of the dogs and use his skills to push him with his listening skills with all the distractions.
You never know what might test your dog, so it’s always worth it to throw them into your real life like this! Training doesn’t always need to be so planned and boring. The more you include it in your real life, the better off your dog and your relationship will be ❤️
Polo and Rolo have been hanging out with me for some boarding while their families are away 💕
I’ve been loving our time together and being able to hangout with them again! I also think it’s so silly their names are so similar and their here for almost the exact same days 🤣

About K9U
Hello Everyone!
My name is Allison Woldstad and I have dedicated my life to helping owners and their dogs build a better life together. I have always had a love for animals but my love for dogs really started to appear when I was 16 years old and I got my first job at a dog kennel. Throughout my 8 years at that kennel, I realized that I not only enjoyed the presence of dogs, but I was also extremely interested in their behaviors and why they did what they did.
When a rescue dog came through with no home because his dog aggression was out of control, I decided to take him home because I was determined find balance for him and change both his and my life. In 2016 I left home to start my adventures to become a Certified Professional Dog Trainer at The National K9 School For Dog Trainers in Ohio. During my time there I became certified in basic obedience (on and off leash), behavior modifications, tracking and trailing, protection training, K-9 units, confidence building, and training assistance dogs.
My mission now is to help other families who are struggling create a calm, safe, and happy home. I feel that it is important for everyone to know that they are not alone when it comes to needing help with their dogs. That is why I crated K9U!
