"Josh is deutan colorblind. In the 5 years we’ve explored the world together we’ve never seen the same sunset. Our fall color hikes weren’t mutually exciting.

Even in our favorite places on earth like Lost Lands Music Festival, Josh could not experience even half of the neon rainbows around him. EnChroma has allowed Josh to see a wider range of color for the first time. To hear him say wow and smile at visuals or the sky above us has fullfilled a longing I’ve had all these years to connect through sight. It feels like we are stepping into an entire new chapter now. There’s a tool to help us make brighter and more vivid memories together. "

Opinion | Colorblindness affects how kids learn. So why don’t we screen for it? 11/07/2023

Color blindness affects 1 in 12 boys and 1 in 200 girls. Yet, only 11 states screen for it in schools. Let's make color vision testing as common as checking letters on a blackboard! 🌈

Opinion | Colorblindness affects how kids learn. So why don’t we screen for it? Millions of American kids would benefit from finding out whether they can register color differences that teachers rely on.

🌈 It's , and between our exhibitions and the New Deal-era murals visited as part of public tours of our building, you can experience ALL the colors of the rainbow! That's also true for those who have color vision deficiency, because we have recently begun offering EnChroma glasses for color blind guests to borrow while at the Interior Museum.

😎 For an example of how we're expanding the view, here's a side-by-side comparison of our mural, "Guardians of the Past" by Daniel Galvez. Plan your next visit today: https://doi.gov/interiormuseum/Plan-a-Visit

In Living Color: Witnessed something special the other day at colorful Letchworth State Park here in Western New York. Met a guy from Buffalo, we were there taking pictures along the Genesee River from, ironically, Inspiration Point. I observed the man really taking in the moment—pausing to admire what was in front of him. It turns out Andrew Griesmann, 42 year old photographer, was FINALLY able to see and experience autumn’s colorful hues along the gorge there. Andrew has been color blind since he was born and now, thanks to his EnChroma glasses, he can now appreciate Fall’s gift at this paradise. “It stops you in your tracks” Andrew told me. “Never seen anything quite like it—something special to witness.” Andrew admitted the glasses have changed his whole life. “When I got into photography, I wondered what am I doing”, referring to his inability to distinguish colors. That has now changed and Andrew has been busy revisiting places with a new appreciation. I run into lots of neat stories in my travels—it was great talking to him the other day. An inspiration found at none other than Inspiration Point at Letchworth. EnChroma Andrew Griesmann
