We know the grief will be overwhelming but the love we receive throughout our time together makes it worth the grief in the end.

We have sad news to share of the passing of Mary K Baukert, DVM. She along with her husband Emil founded the Human Animal Bond committee and subsequently the Helpline and the Wings Pet Loss Support Group. Mary was a caring veterinarian who was skilled in acupuncture and traditional veterinary medicine She was a talented artist who not only drew the beautiful card we send out for the donation card but she also was the inspiration for the remembrance quilt and she made this lovely story bowl as well as fun personal art like rabbits so real they fooled other rabbits and turtle rattles. She was a loving wife, mom and grandmother and of course a lover of dogs and cats. I’ve known her since 1996 when she and the other members of the committee held a training seminar for helpline volunteers and I was “railroaded” into the position in the best way possible. She was there to help us new volunteers and encouraged us to share how volunteering made us feel so others might volunteer as well. She will be sorely missed.
