DR CHARGED WITH CHIKD SEXUAL ASSULT.

A former pediatric radiologist at UPMC Children’s Hospital, Ashok Panigrahy, 53, has been charged with serious child s*x crimes, including transporting and possessing materials that exploit minors.

Did you know? According to the Department of Justice, child exploitation crimes are on the rise, with thousands of cases reported each year. It’s a stark reminder of the importance of keeping our kids safe online and in real life.

UPMC placed him on administrative leave back in November as soon as they learned about the investigation. Now that he’s been terminated, let’s hope for justice for the alleged victims!!

BUTLER – Reps. Marci Mustello (R-Butler) and Aaron Bernstine are teaming up to host a telephone town hall meeting on Thursday, Sept. 5, at 7 p.m. to engage with constituents and discuss the latest developments from Harrisburg and the local community.

“Utilizing technology in this manner to connect with constituents makes this a unique format, and one I hope will garner participation from people that would not normally attend such a forum in person,” said Mustello. “This isn’t a scripted event, so I look forward to listening to people’s opinions and seeing where the discussion leads.”

“I want to know what’s on your mind,” said Bernstine. “That’s why I’m hosting this telephone town hall meeting, and I hope you will participate. Whether you have questions or simply want to listen in, this is a great opportunity to stay informed and share your thoughts.”

During the town hall, participants will have the chance to ask questions, provide feedback on pending legislation, and hear updates on district matters. “The people who join these meetings bring a wide range of perspectives, and I make it a priority to be accessible to everyone. It’s essential that we learn from each other so that we can grow as a community,” Bernstine added.

Calls inviting constituents to participate will begin shortly before 7 p.m. on the day of the event. Those who miss the call or do not receive one can still join by dialing 877-229-8493 and entering the ID code 116952. Additionally, the event can be accessed through a live audio stream on personal computers, tablets, or smartphones by visiting https://video.teleforumonline.com/video/streaming.php....

Bernstine and Mustello look forward to an engaging discussion and encourage all residents to take part from the comfort of their home.

MORE TAXPAYER MONEY WASTED.

County Commissioners approved contracts for a $1.5 million renovation of the Register of Wills and Domestic Relations offices.

However, the bids for the project came in about $500,000 over the initial estimate. Commissioners say they will pull the additional money from the county’s general fund.

For people who need to visit the Domestic Relations office, it is now on the first floor of the original courthouse in the former prothonotary’s office.

The project is expected to start in September and will continue for another 20 to 25 weeks.

Absolutely none of this work needed done.

TODAY IS WORLD BEARD DAY, A HOLIDAY NO ONE KNOWS OR CARES ABOUT.

The origins of World Beard Day have been lost to history, but some historians believe that there is evidence showing that the Danish Vikings have held a day in honor of their beards going back as far as 800 AD!

No one really knows how this day started, and really I am not sure anyone really cares, but maybe someone does, so I shared this worthless information with everyone today. Hoping maybe someone enjoys thier beard today.

A more unusual throwback, changing it up a bit. Who remembers when these were in every store, pizza shop and bar in Butler. Which was nice, you could walk right out of the JR High after school, stop and grab a pack of smokes and no one cared.

ALL STATE OFFICES CLOSED FOR LABOR DAY WEEKEND.

While celestial summer continues through Sept. 21, the end to summer is upon us. The first Labor Day holiday was celebrated on Sept. 5, 1882, in New York City. Today, it is a federal holiday and celebrated by picnics and parades nationwide.

In observance of the Labor Day holiday, all state offices, including PennDOT Licensing and Photo Centers will also be closed during the long weekend.

Many people have standard plans for this weekend. It may be a family picnic, attending a parade, a last week at camp, shopping sales or some other activity. Whatever these plans may be, I wish everyone a happy and safe Labor Day Weekend!

LIVE ELK CAM RETURNS

You can once again check in on the state’s elk herd from the comfort of your own home!

Live images from State Game Lands in Benezette, Pennsylvania.

The camera is located in an area that is typically a hub of elk activity as the bugling season heats up. In the coming weeks, bulls will become more vocal as they compete with one another for available cows.

In addition to the elk, viewers can expect to see turkeys, deer and other wildlife as well. The best times to view elk are at dawn and dusk. If you’d like to see the bugling season in person and are planning an excursion to Central Pennsylvania, the PA Game Commission reminds visitors to always be “Elk Smart.”

JAIL SCAM REPORTS ARE ON THE RISE.

Pennsylvania State Police are again warning people to be aware of scammers claiming their loved one is in jail and promising to release them in exchange for cash.

Scammers will usually make contact by phone and claim a loved one (typically a grandchild) is either currently in jail, or faces the possibility of jail, and will even cite specific names. They will then ask for an address where they can pick up the money.

State police offer these tips to protect yourself from this and other scams:

• Don’t feel pressured to provide payment for something or to someone.
• Do not give out sensitive information over the phone.
• NEVER place money in your mailbox or at your doorstep for someone to pick up.
• Do not give remote access to anyone for any of your devices.
• Never make a payment to someone with gift cards – it’s a scam!

If you or anyone you know is a victim of a scam, contact state or local law enforcement to have it investigated.
