Rates

Rates have improved slightly this week. Mortgage applications have been up 6 of the last 8 weeks. Regional banks, and smaller banks like First Republic, released their earnings reports. These reports show major losses in the banking section causing mortgage rates to improve slightly. We’ll see the PCE (Personal Consumer Expenditure) report due out on Friday and see how that may affect mortgage rates.



Here’s a snapshot of the rates this week:

First Time Homebuyer, 30 year fixed: 5.8%-6.075%

FHA, 30 year fixed: 5.5%-5.75%

Jumbo, 30 year fixed, 20% down: 6.3%-6.625%

Jumbo, 7/6 arm, 30% down: 6.0%-6.25%

Conventional loan, 30 year fixed, 20% down: 6.3%-6.60%
