Thank you to the kind lady on Simmons Road that was able to get these two dogs contained for the Sheriff's Office to pick them up. They have been running in the area for a couple months. If anyone has any information on these two babies, please contact us at 740-432-2219.
⚠️🚙⚠️ Despite the warnings, hundreds of dogs in the U.S. die every year after being left in a hot car. Someone you know may need to read this very important message. ⚠️🚙⚠️
SIX MINUTES is all it takes for a dog to overheat in a hot car.
Your dog could suffer serious injury or die in a matter of minutes if left alone in a car.
• The temperature inside a closed vehicle left in the sun can double within 12 minutes.
• At least 75% of the temperature increase in a closed vehicle occurs within 5 minutes of closing the vehicle, and at least 89% of the temperature increase occurs within 15 minutes of closing the vehicle.
• Temperatures exceeding 104˚ F can lead to death or serious injury for the occupants.
• Temperatures in a closed vehicle sitting in the hot sun can reach 160˚F and above. An animal will suffer immeasurably and may die before the temperature reaches 150˚F.
• Even when parked in the shade, the vehicle temperatures can exceed 104˚C.
• Leaving windows down more than 2 inches on an unattended vehicle will not prevent a car from reaching extreme temperatures.
• Even if the animal is revived, they can die due to severe internal organ damage.
Your dog trusts you to have their best interest at heart ALWAYS.
Please don’t risk their safety.
If you are not taking your dog inside your destination with you, PLEASE leave them at home where they are comfortable and safe.
CHERRY
Husky mix
Female (spayed)
4 years old and 60 pounds
UPDATE: If you are a Husky lover please come meet Cherry, I have been working with her. She is house trained, walks well on a leash, listens and is very smart. She has our routine down and when in her kennel she like laying in her bed. She has her toys she likes and does like grain free dog food. I'm working on getting her acclimated with other dogs. Some dogs she will walk up to and do nothing, others if they come to the front of the kennel barking and jumping, she will stand up for herself. If interested in learning more about Cherry, I suggest coming to the shelter to meet her and spend some time.
Hi, I was running a stray and ended up at the shelter. I am a good dog, but I like to talk. I will tell you everything I see and know. I tested positive for Lyme and being treated. As far as all my vaccines I am good and was spayed. Please come see me so I can tell you all about my experience here at the shelter.
This dog was found running on Byesville Road, Cambridge. If this is your dog, please contact the shelter so we may make arrangements to return him to you. 740-432-2219

YOGI
German Shepherd mix
Male ( neutered)
3 years old and 64 pounds
Hi, my name is Yogi. I was brought in as a stray running the Salt Fork Park area.
I am a male around 3 years old and weigh about 64 pounds. I tested negative for Lyme and Heartworm and received my rabies vaccine. I am a pretty good dog; I love to play and walk. I do have a lot of energy and need an owner that's willing to work with me on self-improvement. I need someone that will be the boss and rule the nest. I haven't had a chance to interact with children so would want to make sure small kids were respectful and interactions are monitored. Same with cats and other dogs.
This puppy was found running on Route 22 past Salt Fork. Please help us find the owner. Our kennels are so full. Call 740-432-2219 with any information to help her get home.
We are in need of puppy food. If you are able to donate you can either drop it off here at the shelter or if you would like to ship it our address is 62824 Bennet Ave, Cambridge, Ohio 43725.
This dog was picked up around Gregg Road/Brick Church Road, Cambridge. If you can help get this dog home please call the shelter. 740-432-2219
This boy was brought in from the Salt Fork area. Please call us at 740-432-2219 if you can help get this kiddo home.
This boy was found in the Lover's Lane/Bloomfield Rd area. Please call us at 740-432-2219 if you can help get this doggie back home with their family.
Meet our 4 dogs that have been here the longest and are in need of a good home. Some have been here since 2022. Please call the shelter if interested in giving one of these dogs a second chance at a good life. 740-432-2219

Great change coming for the dogs !
We are excited to announce that the The Guernsey County Dog Shelter will be moving! Due to the current conditions of the shelter, which has been there since 1950, we are unable to keep making repairs as it sits on a wetland.
Our plan is to raise funds and build a new state of the art shelter at another property to be announced at a later date. This property will ensure the health and happiness of the dogs at the dog shelter.
This will be a community project and we hope we can rely on your support and donations.
Donations can be made to:
The Guernsey County Auditors Office/ New Shelter
62824 Bennett Ave
Cambridge, Ohio 43725
The FOP Lodge 136
www.fop136.com (under Dog Shelter Section)
Please identify all donations as donations to the NEW shelter. We are very excited about this project and look forward to giving you updates in the near future.
