Il y a tout juste 150 ans, le 28 janvier 1873, naissait Colette qui deviendra, au fil de sa vie, l’une des plus célèbres romancières de notre littérature.

Née dans l’Yonne, c’est à Paris que Colette se révèle au grand jour comme une artiste aux talents multiples, à la fois femme de lettres, actrice, journaliste mais aussi romancière. Éprise de liberté, curieuse de tout, c’est tout naturellement et comme beaucoup, qu’elle finit par tomber amoureuse de Paris, cette ville qui lui ressemble tant. Elle apprivoise Paris petit-à-petit, au fil de ses rencontres et de ses nombreux déménagements, jusqu’à trouver sa « province » au Palais-Royal. Depuis son appartement rue de Beaujolais, elle décrira les beautés et les travers de la vie parisienne du XXème siècle.

Femme moderne, sensible et humaine, drôle et audacieuse, pour qui « l’heure de la fin des découvertes ne sonne jamais » comme elle l’écrit, Colette aime se mettre en scène. Dans ses livres d’abord, avec ses « Claudines » qui fascinent, dans ses billets et articles de journaux, dans ses nombreux romans, ses critiques de théâtre et ses pantomimes, au music-hall où ses performances inédites font à l’époque scandales, elle ne cesse de célébrer la liberté.

Première femme à bénéficier d’obsèques nationales, Colette continue de nous éblouir et de nous troubler. Ses mots résonnent avec justesse, son regard singulier, son amour de la nature et des animaux, tout comme sa sensibilité pour évoquer l’intime sont plus que jamais actuels.

Paris n’oubliera jamais celle qui repose au Cimetière du Père Lachaise, cette icône parisienne qui aura ouvert, avec d’autres, la voie à l’émancipation des femmes, merci Colette.
