Pilates For Hypermobile Bodies is back for the Summer beginning this week (7/20)! If you missed the workshop with Dr. Dana Arie this past May, she will be back at The Dance Complex in Cambridge to teach the next installment of this class series on Thursday evenings! This workshop will educate attendees on recognizing hypermobility, the fundamentals of pilates and its benefits for improved strength and performance, and provide the opportunity to practice exercise variations in different positions while integrating core engagement, breathing techniques, and posture. Returning to The DC, Elite Heels with Merline is back for a series of workshops on Monday nights starting 7/10 through 8/14. Elite Heels Dance Class is designed for intermediate/advanced movers and will focus on bringing out one’s unique artistry to the fullest, enhancing performance quality, and pushing one’s body to its fiercest capabilities. Belonging and Othering, a new work by beheard.world, will be on stage at The DC in Cambridge, MA on June 10 and 11! This is the fourth presentation this season as part of The DC’s BLOOM Residency and Platform Raising Program. Beheard.world is a racially diverse collective of Boston performing artists, filmmakers, and educators committed to utilizing the arts to make a positive change. Belonging and Othering features a collaboration of nine dancers/choreographers, three poets, and two filmmakers who have created a piece where “belonging” and “othering” intersect, opening a window into underlying parts of tribalism and bias that keep us divided. THIS WEEKEND: Jean Appolon Expressions (JAE) hits the stage 4/1 & 4/2 with “Tyaka” as a part of our BLOOM Residency Program! Tickets are available now through the link in our bio. The folkloric tradition and rhythms of Haiti come alive with “Tyaka” - “a potluck party that takes the audience on a journey of dance, connection, music, and community,” according to JAE Director, Jean Appolon. Jean Appolon Expressions is one of four companies selected as a part of The Dance Complex’s BLOOM Residency and Platform Raising Program. The program participants, selected for their varied approaches to art-making and length of existence, receive support in professional development and performance. The BLOOM Residency and Platform-Raising Program is made possible by major funding provided by Movement Arts Creation Studio (MACS). Staircase Interview with Tony Rizzi & Peter DiMuro! Tony Rizzi & his company, The Bad Habits, bring “Before, During, and After (working with William Forsythe)” to our Complex @ Canal space on 10/28-10/30! Closing out the evening at Dance Happens Here: 2022 on 9/18, The Dance Complex and Lindsay LaPointe will be premiering a short film series, 30 Dialogues. For this pilot of the project, 15 conversations involving 2 dance affiliated people were recorded getting to know each other in dialogue, edited into short films by Lindsay LaPointe. 30 Dialogues will continue over the next year, releasing new conversations - 15 each session, engaging 30 dancers - once every 3- 4 months. These will be projected onto The Dance Complex's Studio 7 windows for street level viewing. Artists featured in video: Jenny Oliver & Dean Vollick

There will be a short movement warm up followed by deep physical and performance research, sharing of generated material, and feedback.
