Cadbury Commons at Cambridge
Welcome to Cadbury Commons at Cambridge, MA At Cadbury Commons we believe that the emphasis in assisted living should be on living.
As people age, their needs are continually changing. At Cadbury Commons, we offer a vibrant, active environment for seniors who like the security of knowing help is always nearby, but want to enjoy their independence simultaneously. Our Residents whose life experiences include business, education, travel and the arts, can continue to explore a variety of enriching pursuits in a community that fosters their intellectual growth.
Here we have a drawing done by one of our residents, depicting democracy in action and urging everyone to vote!
Reminder: Cadbury Commons is a polling site, so come on down this September to cast your ballot!
Your voices deserve to be heard!!

On your way into Morningside on the 3rd floor you will find a cart our Director of Memory Care, Nancy Gonsalves, set up!
This cart is occupied by little baskets filled with Montessori styled games that guests can bring in and work on with their loved one during their visit.
What is Montessori?
Montessori is a meaningful approach to activities in efforts to put meaning and fulfillment back into people's lives, based on their needs, interests, skills and abilities. People with dementia often feel they are frequently being told what to do, these games give them the option on how they would like to explore and play.

Whichever they choose, our residents still have a great time at Poker for Beginners every Thursday afternoon!
We start our mornings off right with a Morning Stretch every day at 9:30am. It helps prevent falls and it feels good!
We went all out for Mardi Gras here at Cadbury Commons, with French 75s and a New Orleans inspired lunch π₯π₯
Last week we had our annual Holiday Gala. It's our biggest event of the year and we had a great time! Happy Holidays!
A past resident of ours spent a lifetime collecting and constructing a beautifully detailed dollhouse, and on her departure from Cadbury Commons she left the dollhouse in our care. Though it has been on display here these past six years, another of our residents, Jack Shumsky, made a project of rejuvenating the dollhouse and placing it more prominently.
We now proudly display this lovely piece in our entryway, where every visitor can see it and pore over the details just as the original owner wished!
We understand the challenges that come with having a loved one in memory care. Effective communication can sometimes feel like a puzzle, but it's a vital piece of the connection you share. Please read about Effective Communication Strategies for Memory Care to help put that puzzle together.
Effective Communication Strategies for Connecting with Loved Ones in Memory Care For families with a loved one in memory care, communication can be both a lifeline and a challenge. Memory loss conditions, such as Alzheimerβs disease and dementia, can make it increasingly β¦
Engaging activities play a pivotal role in the lives of our residents, infusing each day with vitality and purpose. These activities are not merely pastimes; they are a lifeline to social interaction, mental stimulation, and emotional well-being. In assisted living, activities promote a sense of community, helping residents forge meaningful connections and combat feelings of loneliness. For those in independent living, activities offer a spectrum of choices that empower them to pursue their passions and interests, fostering a continued sense of autonomy and accomplishment.
Check out the various activities for our memory care center.
Engaging activities hold immense significance in the lives of memory care residents, providing them with a gateway to a more fulfilling and enriching existence. These activities serve as a bridge to their past, triggering memories and fostering a sense of connection and identity. Beyond the surface, these interactions promote cognitive stimulation, keeping their minds agile and reducing the progression of memory decline. Moreover, activities create a vibrant social environment, nurturing relationships and alleviating feelings of isolation. As residents partake in creative endeavors, physical exercises, and reminiscence sessions, they not only find joy and purpose but also maintain their physical health and emotional well-being. These moments of engagement, carefully tailored to each individual's needs and abilities, contribute to a life imbued with dignity, joy, and a sense of accomplishment, offering a haven of comfort and belonging amidst the challenges of memory loss.
We are thrilled to receive such a fantastic review from one of our valued friends! Their kind words and positive experience highlight the exceptional care and services we strive to provide. Summer is here and our exterior and garden are in peak form! It's a beautiful day!
We recently had our big Petting Zoo Event on a beautiful Friday, featuring animals from Animal Affair and music by Dixie Cookbook. We had such a great time, oh my gosh!
We recently had some friends of one of our residents come and play traditional Balkan dance music. They call themselves βWoodshedβ and they are a lot of fun. We had a beautiful day enjoying this great and unusual music!
Every Monday morning we solve several Wordles by hand, with the help of our activities staff. Here's a strange one we came across the other day; can you solve it? (The red circle means the letter is in the target word, but not in the right position).
We recently took a trip to the Boston Symphony Orchestra to hear Stravinsky and, our new favorite contemporary composer, Thomas Adès! Hear, hear!
