Our end of summer shop refresh continues…for this space we first needed to get this unique mosaic coffee table up off the floor, it was getting lost amongst other furniture. Placing it on top of our Hollywood Regency Sideboard, where it could best be seen and appreciated, was an ah-ha idea.

When creating pretty vingettes for the shop we keep in mind a few loose guidelines; like varying heights and grouping items in odd numbers (3,5,7). And we love doing the unexpected - here we layed our sweet floral cups on their sides where they add interest and fun. The most important guideline…if you like it, just do it!

We decided it was time to begin tackling a full shop refresh this week. We started in the front corner just as you walk in. Suzi got into her merchandising mode and created this BEAUTIFUL space. We’re calling it the last chance summer vibes, and it’s gorgeous! Think late summer garden meets lovely vintage treasures. Of all the pretty spaces Suzi’s pulled together over the years, this is her very favorite, and she’s done many.

Come see it before for things sell and it looses its WOW moment 🤩. Photos just don’t do it justice. Come soon, things change quickly around here!

Our picker came today and we took a few minutes to talk shop. He’s been picking with us for years and knows what we want, and don’t want. We only bring in quality pieces you expect to find when you visit.

As we brought in the furniture, one thing led to another, and soon we were giving the shop a major rearrange and refresh. The big one lol. More on this tomorrow. We’ll just say we love how it’s going. 😍

While going through mystery boxes yesterday, we came across a bit of Canby nostalgia. Most long time Canby residents have fond memories of this once local landmark. What’s your favorite memories of Parsons’? We still miss them as friendly neighbors just down the block from us.

Going through mystery boxes is one of our favorite things to do! We spent the morning discovering so many vintage treasures…the suitcases and boxes were packed full. We’ll have them tagged soon, come see what we found!

Check our door for events happening in our area. Summer’s not over yet, and soon Fall will be bazaar season. We’re happy to put up postcards and posters for things taking place in Canby.

We’re open today from 10-5. It’s a beautiful day to head to the country where we’re an easy drive from both Portland and Salem on I5. After checking out what’s new here (we always have lots new to see:)), head two miles down the road to Swan Island Dahlias. They have 200 acres of gorgeous Dahlias, cut flowers, food and drink carts, live music, and a great gift store. Make a day of it. Remember to bring your camera and stop here first.

The Canby Car Show is setting up! The cars start arriving VERY early. Over 800 registered this year plus more!

I have to get here early (before 7) to have them let me park near my shop. Luckily I have access to an off-street spot on weekends...

Though my 99 Ford 250 could qualify to be in it! Maybe next year.

Did you know old printed circuit boards can be repurposed as unique art? Absolutely - you can frame them or hang them as found…they make visually interesting shelf sitters, too. $5 and $18.

Oh my! Sneak peek before we get them to the floor - all vintage Columbia and Pendleton! Suzi is going to price them this weekend so they should be ready on Sunday.

Hey All ~ It’s going to be a BIG weekend in town! 🎉🍻🎈

We’ll be opening early this Saturday, August 24th, for the Cutsforth’s Market Cruise-in by the Park. Classic cars and hot rods will be lined up in front of the shop hoping to be winners this year, and in the blocks surrounding Wait City Park. The show will run from 9-2pm. Food and entertainment will be part of the show.

Canby’s Big Night Out is this Friday from 6-11pm, just a block south of Retro. This is when Canby says adieu to summer by dancing in the streets to great live music. There’ll also be local food and drinks, and lots of free kids activities. This is a family friendly party open to all.

We’re happy to be part of a community that provides events like these…come see us too while you’re checking out the car show or before the Big Night Out! 🏁

Repurposed Narrow Shelf Unit ~ $88. 31 high, 49 wide, 13 deep.

Suzi has had this wood in her shop for ages; the mahogany, cedar, and maple checker design too unique to not use at some point. She recently came across the metal frame and knew just where the saved wood would be used. It feels good to give a new life to pieces that might otherwise end up in the landfill. 🙌

This piece is super versatile too; put your plants on, set it in an entry to catch your shoes, set up your bar, or use it as a buffet with tall thin lamps on either end. It could even be used to divide a space in a small apartment.
