As we teased back in January the day is finally here. Introducing the Cooper, Brooks, & Denham Agency. Over the last few Months, we have been working to combine the insurance portion of Foundation Financial and Denham Insurance Group together to form this new agency. This combination provides us all the resources needed to help our clients for years to come. A lot of work has happened behind the scenes to make this possible(Thank you Carol Denham). The only thing changing for you is more qualified people to help you with your insurance needs. Please be on the lookout for communication from us, as more information will be coming soon.

We have numerous prints of "Time of Renewal" painted by Brenda Harris Tustian featuring the old Methodist Church in Downtown Canton. These were in the Arts Center (which later occupied the church building) and were going to be thrown away. If anyone is interested in a copy, give me a call and we will be happy for you to take a copy. 678.880.9571.

The total size of the prints are19×25 1/2 with the picture section being 16x20.

March Madness on the office television!

Our office building flooded during the rain Saturday evening/Sunday morning. Luckily, our office is just past the water line, so we didn't sustain any damage. (Thank goodness for old buildings with uneven floors!) However, the cleanup continues and will necessitate us closing for the remainder of the day today. As of right now, we anticipate reopening tomorrow morning. We will update if that changes.

Foundation Financial was recognized by the Cherokee County School Board as the 2023 Partner of the Year for Ball Ground ES Stem Academy. Duane Jones has led this effort and the award is a result of his work and perseverance.

If you are planning to visit us over the next several weeks, our North Street entrance will not be available. You also may want to wear your walking shoes! While this project only removes about a dozen parking spaces, the continuing work on the Jones Building has closed the lot between the building and Cannon Park. Parking is at a premium in Downtown Canton these days.

While I was walking at lunch today, a young girl who was probably 4 or 5 years old saw me walking toward her. She jumped off of her bike and ran into the grass. She quickly bent down, grabbed something and ran toward me. Holding up this little flower, she had a big smile on her face and said, "Here, this is for you!"

It was such a pleasant reminder of the actions of a pure heart. She didn't do it to be recognized by others or to receive anything in return, she just wanted to be nice. It was already a good day, and after thanking her, I walked on with a smile on my face, carrying my little flower along for the remainder of my walk. The George Strait song "I Saw God Today" came to mind, and my smile turned into a happy tear.

A big congratulations to Duane Jones for winning the Chairman's Council Volunteer of the Year from the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce. We are very proud of his hard work and dedication to our community.

We know that you all know it is going to be cold this weekend. Take care and keep you and your family safe. We also know you have heard these tips, but a reminder can't hurt.

Cut off and drain your outside faucets. If you cannot or do not have a cutoff, leave them dripping, and at these temperatures the drip needs to be pretty fast.

If your pipes in your kitchen and bathroom are close to an exterior wall, open the cabinets so the heat from the house can help protect them.

Make sure you have the heat is on in all buildings that have plumbing. Many insurance policies exclude damage from freezing pipes if proper care is not taken to protect them.

If you are going to drive, give your car more time than usual to warm up. Not only will your engine thank you, but if you have a frozen radiator, you will give the car time to thaw and let you know in your driveway rather than being broken down on the side of the road with below zero windchills.

If you can, just stay inside and watch some Christmas movies, and let the pets join you.

Scam Alert - I just got off the phone with one of our business insurance clients, and there is a scam going on that other business owners should know about. He got a call on Saturday evening from someone saying they wanted him to do a job, and they were offering to pay a high price to get the job done. Their requirement was for a $3 million dollar liability limit on his commercial policy. Very few small businesses carry that much liability, so he needs to make a policy change. Since it was on Saturday night, the new potential customer tells him he knows an agent who will do him a favor and issue the $3 million dollar policy for him immediately. All he has to do is give payment information for a $1,000 down payment, and he will have the needed liability to secure the job. Luckily for our client, something didn't seem right, so he decided to wait until today to secure the insurance coverage. When he reached back out to the potential customer, they no longer exist.

We try to be in our office and available to our clients everyday. However today is one of those days that didn't work out. Our team will be out of the office today for off-site client meetings. Please reach out via phone and email if you need assistance. Thank you for understanding.

It is hard to believe that our official ribbon cutting and open house happened 3 years ago today. There were so many challenges coming that we could have never foreseen. Contracts, meeting the city's requirements, rampant inflation and Covid caused us to change many things about how we run our business. In many ways, the last three years have felt like a decade.

Through all of the challenges, we have grown a profitable insurance and wealth management business that is helping families in our community protect themselves and plan for the future. While the challenges were trying, we have never strayed from our three main goals:
To protect families with the proper insurance coverage.
To offer diversified financial products to help families prepare for their future.
To operate our business in a manner that brings glory to God each day.

In addition to succeeding with our business, we are a combined 150-200 pounds lighter than we were in the pictures that night. We made the decision that taking care of ourselves was important for us to effectively help others.

Cherokee High School will be having their Homecoming Parade this afternoon in Downtown Canton. Due to road closures and to make room for the additional pedestrian traffic, we will be closing the office at 2pm this afternoon.

We will resume our normal business hours tomorrow.

Notice: Road Closure- The Cherokee High School Homecoming Parade will start around 4:00 pm Wednesday, October 12, 2022. You can expect traffic delays for about one hour. Roads will be closed along the following route.

1. The parade turns left out of the school onto Marietta Hwy
2. Turns right on Anderson Ave.
3. Turns right onto Waleska Street.
4. Proceeds around the downtown area.
5. Travels back to the high school via Waleska Street, Anderson Ave., and Marietta Hwy.

I love having our office in these old buildings in Canton. They have so much character and charm. However, I am usually the first person in the building each morning, and when I turn the corner to unlock the back door I keep waiting to see these girls. If you were a fan of 80's horror movies, you know what I am talking about. At least I get my heart rate up daily without even exercising!
