The Village Arts Factory, The Village Theater at Cherry Hill, the Canton Chamber of Commerce, and Canton Township announce the return of the Cherry Hill Village ARToberfest, a one-day artisan and vendor fair, that will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024. This special event, which will be held in Canton’s Cherry Hill Village, is sponsored by Jacob Matthew Jewelers, Provision Living Senior Living Community, Trinity Health-IHA Group, LaFontaine Chevrolet of Plymouth, Blink Eye Care, The Village Dentist, and The Village Grocery.
Festival-goers will have a chance to fully immerse themselves in art and fall fun from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. at three unique locations: the Village Arts Factory, located at 50755 Cherry Hill Road; The Village Theater at Cherry Hill, located at 50400 Cherry Hill Road; and the Cherry Hill School House, located at 50440 Cherry Hill Road.
The Village Arts Factory will also host a Youth Art Fair featuring the work of artists ages 8 to 18. In addition to these promising student artists, the event will also feature resident artisans from the Village Arts Factory, including the Cherry Hill Potters Guild, who will be onsite selling their original works providing festival-goers with a chance to peruse and buy one-of-a-kind creations. All of these talented artists are creating not only what’s new, but what’s next.
“Last year’s inaugural ARToberfest was so well received that we are thrilled to bring back this second annual fall celebration of the arts in Cherry Hill Village,” said Kevin Ryan, Village Arts Factory Program Director. “A delightful range of works and merchandise will be on display and available for purchase, plus we’ll also feature a variety of family-friendly artistic and creative activities that showcase the arts.”
Cherry Hill Road, which will be closed between the Village Arts Factory and the Village Theater, will be filled with food trucks (including Slows Bar BQ), a beer and wine tent that is hosted by Maraschino’s Pub, chalk art, and photo opportunities. Live entertainment will also be featured on the lawn of the Cherry Hill School House, provided by Drew Machak from 12-2 p.m. and The Misty Blues Polka Band from 3-5 p.m. Additional activities include a range of engaging fall-themed activities tailored specifically for children, including the Detroit Institute of Arts kids’ craft tent that is available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., as well as lawn games that are brought to you by Oak Point Church.
Food trucks will also be onsite between the Village Arts Factory and Canton’s Village Theater, located at 50400 Cherry Hill Road. In addition, a Chalk Art Festival will connect the two facilities. Individuals of all ages, families, and businesses are invited to utilize the provided sidewalk chalk to create their own works of street art, while also enjoying masterpieces by professional chalk artists
Festival-goers will also be able to view the 30th annual Canton Fine Arts Exhibition, on display through October in the Gallery at Cherry Hill inside the Village Theater, as well as the Village Arts Factory Fine Art exhibition inside its facility. Both of these venues showcase a broad range of artistic styles and interpretations in a variety of mediums from emerging and well-established Michigan artists.

Our juror this year for our 30th Annual Canton Fine Arts Exhibition is artist Tom Hale. Tom likes cars and he enjoys painting chrome, color, and reflections. More importantly, he really enjoys creating art and using the subject of the automobile as a means to explore compositions, patterns, and color. He does not like making ‘pictures’ of cars – this is not what he's about.
The automobile allows him to express his creativity and emotions about art. He sees not the automobile but composition, abstraction, surrealism, value, and color. Learn more about Tom at www.tomhalegallery.com
