20 year career in the Air Force (7,300 days) you get 600 vacation days with pay, there are 2,080 weekend days, another 220 for federal holidays, and then 220 for family/goal days/etc. That's 7,300 - 3,120 meaning in a 20 year career to retirement, you only actually work 4,180 days or 11.45 years.

I would call that WINNING. On top of all the other benefits, the Air Force seems like a no-brainer.

One of the reasons I love being a recruiter for the Air Force is helping people just like Jacob. He shipped out to Basic Training yesterday and I’m sure is wondering what he got himself into right now, but those 7.5 weeks fly by. He has been an inspiration to me throughout his process. One of his main reasons for enlisting was to provide for his daughter, Annabella. As a father, I know how much it means to want better for your kids than you had. Jacob is one of those guys that will succeed and do some amazing for our country. Very proud of him and I know his friends and family are proud. It started a longggg time ago, when Evan and I first met. I had to tell him that unfortunately, he did not meet our height/weight standards. Didn’t hear from him for about a year and a half, then I get this text in August..”Hey this is Evan Bland. I’ve lost the weight that I needed to lose and I think I’m ready to possibly join the Air Force”. Evan lost 60 pounds to join the Air Force, something he has always wanted to do. He flew through his processing and accepted a position leaving very quickly. Not just any position though, he will be joining my career field, THE BEST in the Air Force, Vehicle Maintenance. Congratulations to Evan. Go make us proud man! 🇺🇸🔧🛞⚙️

He is off to sunny San Antonio for 7.5 weeks of Basic Military Training, where he will start to craft valuable life skills like independence, discipline, and structure.
