History of the Vegetarian Club of Canton:
The VCC was organized in September 1986 by David Kidd with the help of a few friends. The club has had a significant impact in Stark County, Ohio due to the work of dozens of member volunteers over the years. What makes the VCC unique is the goal of meeting at a different restaurant each month for a (typically) four-course vegan (no meat, dairy or egg) mea
After 35 years of offering vegan dinner meals ten months a year with local, regional, and national speakers, VCC has officially closed. We shut down during Covid, and no one wanted to restart it. I was burned out too. We have done the final tax return and closed the non profit. Hopefully, another group will get going in Canton with the vegan name in it. Thanks for all the love and support. Respectfully, David Kidd

Do you have the Daily Dozen App? It's so helpful when determining your snacking habits later in the day! Open it up and you see you could use a couple more servings of beans? So, snack on hummus and crackers. Maybe you need reminded to drink more water. Or maybe you need suggestions on how to prepare certain foods, or want to know the benefits of them. It's all in the app.
What's on the daily dozen?
Beans
Berries
Other Fruits
Cruciferous Veggies
Greens
Other Vegetables
Flaxseeds
Nuts and Seeds
Herbs and Spices
Whole Grains
Beverages
Exercise
And finally: Vitamin B12. Do you take a B12 vitamin?

IT'S FRI-YAY!
Let's start the weekend on an educational note. YOU are your greatest advocate. The "healthcare system" we have here in the states is not based on keeping you healthy. That's not to say that doctors and other medical professionals are some sort of proprietors to a big, evil agenda. Good, GREAT, doctors exist. In abundance. But they are paralyzed by "the system" that thrives on keeping you ill.
So, that's where you come in. YOU need to advocate FOR YOU. And the best way to do that is to take your health into your own hands.

Taking Personal Responsibility for Your Health | NutritionFacts.org If that’s all a healthy plant-based diet could do—reverse the #1 killer of men and women—shouldn’t that be the default diet, until proven otherwise?
Most people think being plant based is difficult. But it's really the easiest, and most delicious, way to enjoy food!

What do you think?
"Eating healthfully is not about vegetarianism, veganism, or any other '-ism.' From a nutrition standpoint, the reason I don’t like the terms vegetarian and vegan is that they are defined by what you don’t eat." - Dr. Michael Greger in the How Not to Die Cookbook
When I taught at Cornell, I had vegan students who appeared to be living off of French fries and beer. Vegan, perhaps, but not terribly health-promoting. That’s why I prefer the term whole food plant-based nutrition. In general, the dividing line between health-promoting and disease-promoting foods may be less plant- versus animal-sourced foods, and more whole plant foods versus most everything else.
