From the very beginning of our relationship with Luis, it was clear that we had found an excellent DevOps Engineer that would enable us to refine our technology stack and meet our technology needs. Edgar is part of our Professional Services team. Edgar lives in Merida Yucatan, and he has 8 years of adding value to Nearshore, so let us get to know more about him.

1. What do you like the most about working at Nearshore?
The closeness with everyone, for me having a good work environment is fundamental in a job and I found it here. I also believe that NST cares for employees which is essential. The stability that NST has given me, throughout these 8 years, all started when they contacted me through HR, and then I had a lot of communication with Sheri, and everything began to be very pleasant for me. Maybe I am not one of the first, but I'm one of the first 40 or 50 employees, and all that growth has touched me since we have all grown in parallel and I feel privileged to have lived through it.

2. How do you feel about your new role?
I received the proposal some time ago, at first I did not have the intention since I wanted to direct my growth towards the technical side, but when they spoke again with me, I told them that if it does not affect me on the technical side I would like to try it. I also like collaborating with people, and teaching, since I am supporting the CoEs which is part of complementing what I like and a challenge of learning new things. I have been enjoying it.

3. Tell us about your hobbies.
I have always liked the subject of cooking and baking, but I like to do many things. I know I am not a super pro, but I really like to try new things, now I have started with bakery and fresh pasta, and I like it, the reason why I have a super happy wife. It all started with meat, grilling, etc., but now with baking (sweet bread and salty bread), I did not think about the process or how difficult it is, but I have found it has its complexity, it is not something that I would have thought I would like, but it did.

International Women’s Day (March 8th) is a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change, and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women, who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities.

In order to commemorate this day we would like to talk to you about WIN.

WIN is a group within Nearshore that works towards inclusion, diversity and equity, a group that firmly believes that courage is contagious, a critical mass of bravery is the foundation of an intentionally bold and strong culture, this group is not only a team for women, it also is a team open for all: Women and Men In NearShore and if you are not part of WIN this is the opportunity to join and bring your thoughts and ideas to make a change and Add Value to our community.

Ricardo is a Senior Front-End Developer with almost 2 years in the company; He lives in Mexico City.

1. What do you like the most about working at NST?
The opportunities to continue growing, this part of pushing yourself to evolve is powerful because it comes from the managers, yourself, and the company to be successful in your work. To conclude, I would like to share that we embrace this culture very much and do not forget our colleagues' support; if you have questions, they are open to help, whether they are or not on the same team. I hope that this culture can be exploited a little more.

2. Any professional advice that you would like to share with us?
What has worked for me and what I use in my life is to keep learning. The IT market changes a lot, so you must keep learning new resources to be able to use the new tools that the market requests, use them for work, personal benefit, and in the community in general.

3. Which other career would you choose besides the one you studied?
I am a graphic designer, so designing is one of my passions. I believe that the university only gives us the basis for what comes in the future and I asked myself what I would like to develop. In my first job, I was lucky enough to do a bit of web design with Flash and ActionScript, then from there the front-end side caught my attention, using the design for a project. At that time the UX (User Experience) and User Interface part did not exist it was just web design, and the front end was more towards html & css, and then one thing led to another and my career began when I learned javascript, jquery, more tools such as frameworks, etc. which allowed me to develop my own WordPress projects.
