We've reached the last evening of our countdown. Tonight we only want to leave you with one question: why?

Why give some of your valuable financial resources to the Partnership? Because we believe that art should be accessible to EVERYONE regardless of age, gender, socioeconomic status, or physical and mental ability. Your donation, no matter how small, will directly contribute to our work here in Canton and the greater metro Detroit area to bring art, food, music, and culture to our communities.

Join the mission. Help us help others. Make the arts and humanities a vibrant facet of your life and the lives of those less fortunate. Please consider donating tomorrow.

Countdown to Giving Tuesday: Creating Art Pathways for Youth!

The Village Arts Factory is building cultural arts opportunities for young people to participate, create, learn, provide feedback, advise, and explore the arts comprehensively, including pathways that could lead to careers and professional pursuits in creative industries. Arts Warehouse programming integrates powerful ways to instill confidence and an authentic sense of belonging through the arts:

- Regular opportunities to spend time with successful, working, local artists

- Offering youth regular chances to create and make while utilizing specialized supplies and equipment in our facility

- Giving young people opportunities to showcase and celebrate their work and their authentic voice in our community gallery spaces

- Providing them with the guidance and professional support to successfully price, market, and sell their goods, earning potential income while learning about entrepreneurship, and experiencing pride and a genuine sense of accomplishment

donations help us continue to better connect the youth in our region to impactful and positive community experiences through the arts!

-assistive listening devices
-large print resources
-multilingual access
-touch access
-tactile strips
-full web accessibility
-iPads/personal display devices
-interactive self-guided tours
-exhibitions that reflect diverse voices, perspectives, and lived experiences

Your donation for will help us remove potential barriers and more fully transform our gallery into a special place to celebrate the arts, while leaving no one behind.

Help us celebrate Small Business Saturday!

11/26/2022

The Village Arts Factory's Art Gallery is committed to showcasing the work and voices of diverse artists, reflecting widely varied life experiences, cultures, and perspectives. This year we were so excited to work with local painter/storyteller, Nick Bair, who displayed his animal-inspired works in our gallery this September. His art includes a variety of media, such as ink, watercolor, acrylic, charcoal, and colored pencil. A world traveler with a passion for contemporary large mammals and scenes from nature, he is a unique and inspiring voice, and an award-winning artist who has autism. Nick shared the following about his experience with us:

"I loved seeing my art displayed at the Village Arts Factory! Kevin did a great job grouping and displaying my art. Thank you Village Arts Factory for the opportunity to exhibit my animal art." -Artist, Nick Bair

Nick reminds us that art is the language anyone can speak.

Making a donation is a wonderful way to show your support for neurodiverse and other historically underrepresented artistic voices who deserve the opportunity to be celebrated and showcased!

Our Countdown to Giving Tuesday continues with a beautiful testimony from dedicated Board Member, Ann Conklin:

"The Partnership for the Arts and Humanities has been committed to bringing the Canton Community together through the arts for over two decades. In its early years, the Partnership provided funding to many of the artist groups that are now a foundation of the Canton Community. During the past twenty years, thousands of people have experienced the joy, the thrill, and beauty of the arts either as a performer or audience member. People of all ages have learned a new skill, gained self confidence and developed new friendships through the art programs that the Partnership has funded. Today the Partnership continues its commitment to the arts with the Village Arts Complex, which is a place that brings the community together through the arts."

"The arts are key to community development, to building a sense of place and to the economy of a community. I believe in Canton and serve on the Partnership to help create a strong, healthy community all while providing opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to thrive through the arts."

Consider making a donation today to help us provide a thriving arts community right here in southeast Michigan.

Yesterday we shared with you the power of the arts as an economic driver. Today, we’d like to introduce you to one of our resident artists who are finding success and joy because of their decision to work out of one of the Art Warehouse’s studio spaces: The Cherry Hill Potters Guild.

“We are so grateful for our partnership with the Village Arts Factory. With the VAF, we have built and maintained a vibrant studio space and community that fully supports our goal of spreading our knowledge, appreciation and enjoyment of pottery throughout the community.

The Arts Warehouse is a community with students, artists and craftspeople of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. Our shared space and love of the arts allows us to connect and exchange our creative ideas, enthusiasm, and of course an occasional ladder, hammer or cart. It also allows us to share a wide range of arts and crafts with the community. The Village Arts Factory’s contribution to the lives of guild members, students, and the community is so much larger than a building alone. It is irreplaceable!”

Supporting the Village Arts Factory supports amazing artisans like the Cherry Hill Potters Guild and all of their students! Please consider making a contribution today!

11/23/2022

Did you know that the Village Arts Factory’s Arts Warehouse serves as an economic engine for small businesses in Canton? More than a dozen creative- and arts-based businesses benefit from reduced leasing rates, marketing support, and other important resources provided by the Partnership for the Arts. These small businesses drive traffic to the Village District, in turn benefiting other businesses who operate in the neighborhood. The nonprofit arts industry alone generates $135 billion in economic activity annually, which supports 4.1 million jobs and generates $22.3 billion in government revenue. Arts are good for local businesses!

Even a $25 donation can help us continue to uplift the artisans and makers of the Arts Warehouse and to create a thriving small business community here in Canton!
