When we first revisited Tuna Skin 4-5 months ago, it scarcely looked better than it did immediately following Hurricane Ian. Now, it’s undergone an incredible transformation.

Just this Wednesday, the odds of Tuna Skin being ready for a reopening today seemed unlikely. But a single phone call made by NPS, and a conversation with Frank Kropacek, the head of Community development, made all the difference. He promised, “I’m going to make sure I do everything in my power to get everyone back on the beach and working as quickly and safely as possible”…. Frank made good on this promise, and he did it the same day by granting Tuna Skin a TCO.

This shows that the building department and community development can indeed act as positive forces in our community.
