EDCOR Electronics Corporation
EDCOR is one of the leading manufacturers of high quality audio transformers. Our products have been EDCOR is an acronym for Electronic Development Corporation.
EDCOR was originally a public Utah corporation in the early 1960’s that originally developed wireless microphones and had the first US patent. The original microphones operated on the FM broadcast band and were tunable, so one could select an open frequency in the area of usage. The market was outstanding in the high entertainment areas, like Las Vegas. EDCOR had many celebrity singers using our w

We have been using a couple of lasers over the years for marking and cutting. You may have noticed the marking of the steel, on our PCB mounted transformers, and our mounting brackets. We also notch our bobbins for production with a laser. We even have a few videos of this on our YouTube page.
So, the production crew have been playing around with them. Now they have started making EDCOR swag. We have added a SWAG section to our website. We will be adding more items over time.
EDCOR Swag Keep EDCOR close with swag. Our production line has been playing around with EDCOR's MOPA Fiber laser and CO2 laser and have started to make their own EDCOR swag.

We have brought back bobbins. These are glass filled nylon 6/6 coil bobbins for "E-I" type cores.
Coil Bobbins Nylon 6/6, glass filled injection molded bobbins for coil winding.
We have added custom silicon mounting pads/insulators to our website. These pads are custom laser cut to fit our classic transformers with end bells. They help mitigate the vibration noise that a transformer can have at lower frequencies.

Designing A Transformer - Part 3: Physical Design Calculations
Single-phase power transformers are the backbone of electronics. In this section, we will delve into the math of the design process by calculating voltages, currents, turns for each winding, choosing core material and determining magnet wire sizes.
Part 3: Physical Design Calculations After calculating the core size and wire sizes, it is time to do some physical calculations to see if the right material was chosen. In this part, we will calculate the coil length, the fill of each winding, wire weight, core weights, losses, regulation, and a rough approximation of the DC resistanc...
Over the past few years, there has been a shortage of materials. Working with our vendors, we are glad to announce that we have added steel laminations back to our website.
Keep an eye out, we are working on adding bobbins and other transformer hardware over the next few months.

We are now shipping to APO addresses.
Since we switched over to a new website system, I have been trying to get the system to accept APO addresses for those in our Armed Forces. It has taken some time, but we can now accept orders to APO addresses on our website.

This is Part 1 of a multi-part blog series that will cover the basics of transformer design. Part 1 of this blog series covers the basic transformer theory, parts of a transformer, and transformer schematic.
Part 1: The Basics EDCOR has been building transformers for over 40 years. Over that time, extensive knowledge, data, and techniques in the manufacturing of transformers has been collected. I have decided to offer this multi-part blog series for the basic understanding of transformer design.
