Thank you Carmel and listeners for being with us all the way to 100 episodes.

99% of the over 2 million podcasts out there don't make it through episode 20.

We love our city, we love our community, and we love making it better. That's why your weekly team is going to pursue supporting Carmel's future in some different directions for now. This Friday February 3rd is Episode 99 for Podcast on the Plaza and we have a big show for you, live from Feinstein's at Hotel Carmichael!

Kicking off with our small business spotlight, we have Michael Angelo Thompson joining us from Michelangelo candles. "Angelo" operates out of COhatch right here on Main Street and creates natural hypoallergenic soy candles, melts, and diffusers.

The big topic of the morning will be the Arte d'Italia - Authentically Italian Celebration of our Cortona Sister City on February 17th and 19th. Presented by the Rotary Club of Carmel, this event will feature Cortona's Deputy Mayor, Francesco Attesti. Spoiler alert - he's a world-renowned pianist!

Feinstein's will kick off the event weekend with a jazz concert at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 17 during a special black-tie event that begins at 5:30 p.m. and will feature a celebration of Cortona food and wine. We will interview General Manager Jamie Hopwood and Executive Chef Jason R Crouch to learn about the concert and VIP dinner event.

Francesco will then be at The Palladium on the 19th performing with Carmel Symphony Orchestra. We will welcome back Janna Hymes, Conductor and Artistic Director of the CSO to tell us all about the event.

Don't miss hearing about this or all the other great things going on in our city. Join us live at 9 AM Friday right here on FB, broadcasting live from the stage at Feinstein's in the Hotel Carmichael.

You may have seen him on FOX59 morning shows, with Penn and Teller on CBS, or even on stage with yours truly. Jon has wowed countless crowds, celebrities, and even other famous magicians.

Jon joins us Friday morning at 9 AM to talk about partnering with Actors Theatre of Indiana and our good friend Don Farrell. They’ve got an awesome event coming up at The Center For The Performing Arts in just over 2 weeks. Perhaps he will confound and amaze us at the table. Hear all about “Sleight of Mind” and everything else going on in Carmel right here on FB Live or in our Java House Midtown Plaza studio.

Photos from Podcast On the Plaza's post 01/12/2023

Do not be alarmed! It's about to be Friday the 13th!

We will be here to help you start the day off right. We've got all your news past, present, and future with Anne and Ann.

Carmel representative Anne O'Brien will fill us in on all the ice related activities coming up through March. The market has closed, but there is still a lot of winter fun to be had at Carter Green.

Then Ann Marie Shambaugh, Managing Editor of the Current, is going to cover Carmel's most popular news stories of 2022 with us. Will it be hard hitting political stories? True crime? Perhaps one of the many massive festivals we have?

Find out the answer along with everything going on around the city in our Weekend Big List, brought to you by Good Day Carmel, Friday morning at 9 AM live on FB or in person at the Java House Midtown Plaza.

We are joined by Coast Guard veteran, speaker, and author Darin Bibeau, who hosts the podcast. In his book, Back to Bulletproof, Darin presents a tactical guide to success, while describing his time chasing Colombian cartel smuggling boats and working post-9/11 security in New York City.

We will talk all about our mindset for success as we start off the new year. See you live on FB at 9 AM Friday or in our Java House studio audience.

Episode 94: Dying Defiantly

Photos from Podcast On the Plaza's post 12/29/2022

This Friday December 30th - It's our final episode of 2022!

It's the end of the year and most people are thinking of new beginnings, planning what they will do in the next year and beyond.

What about when it's YOUR end? How would you live if you couldn't make those plans? We will be joined by Dying Defiantly founder Marshall Morris to see how a terminal cancer diagnosis has changed his life and the lives of those he now helps.

Started days after his own diagnosis, the nonprofit Dying Defiantly serves those who have also received a terminal diagnosis with counseling as well as legal services. Marshall is a driven 'man on a mission' and somewhat of a miracle himself - now some 6 months past the doctor's "expiration date," as he refers to it.

Tune in to this powerful story at 9 AM Friday live on FB or in the audience at the Java House - Midtown Plaza.

12/21/2022

We're all buckling down for a big winter storm, so we preface this Friday morning's show with **Weather Permitting** and will be sitting down with with Managing Editor of the Current in Carmel, Ann Marie Shambaugh as we did 1 year ago to take a look at the Top 10 stories of the year in Carmel!

It will be a great conversation to have, no matter when it happens. Hopefully, though, we will be broadcasting live Friday morning 12/23 at 9 AM from the Java House in Midtown Plaza. Join on live on FB or in person if it's safe!

Merry Christmas, listeners 🎄

Episode 93: Mark Bayles, Indy’s Garage, and biofuels

Photos from Podcast On the Plaza's post 12/14/2022

Power bills are rising this month as we spend more heating our homes and lighting up our rooftops for the holidays. It's time to take a look again at the future of energy!

Join us this Friday morning 12/16 as we welcome Mark A Bayles to the show. Mark is Chief Executive of Sales, Marketing, and Business Development at Indy's Garage. As we know, "there's more than corn in Indiana." There's also lots or racing! Why not combine the two?

One of the most common forms of biofuel is ethanol, made from corn. It's most commonly used in transportation, but also for heating and electricity generation. Mark also represents the Indiana Corn Marketing Council & Indiana Soybean Alliance, building cars and bikes that use eFlexFuel. These fuels are produced in a short time span as opposed to dwindling fossil fuels.

Just as electric cars like Tesla can be incredibly fast, eFlexFuel cars are no joke. Mark's Hellcat Charger is a veteran of the drag strip. We will hear all the high-octane details this Friday at 9 AM. Tune in live on FB or join us at Midtown Plaza Java House.
