We are excited to welcome three new dancers to GHDT for the 2024-2025 Season! Welcome Sophie Jones, Cordelia Newton, and Audrey Springer
Meet the new dancers of GHDT!
Audrey Springer began her training at AGHDT in 2018, after performing in their nutcracker and attending their summer intensives since 2016. Audrey was a member of GHDT’s pre-professional company, G2, for four seasons and a company intern for the 23-24 season. She was privileged to be a part of company productions such as EXODUS, The Black Dahlia, and There’s No Place Like Home. Audrey has also spent summers training outside of the studio at the Butler Ballet Summer Intensive, the Anderson University Summer Dance Intensive, and a week-long intensive at Visceral Dance in Chicago. Audrey thanks Mr. Hancock for the performance opportunities he has given and her mom for her continuous support, and she can’t wait to continue her journey with GHDT!
Meet GHDT's new dancers.
Cordelia Newton began her dance training in Tucson, Arizona at Dance Force-1 at the age of three under the direction of April Garner-Hoose. She later continued her training at Franklin School of Performing Arts in Franklin, TN under the direction of Kaylee Cahoon and Thom Yzaguirre. Following high school, she earned a B.A. from Western Kentucky University in Dance. While studying, she was a part of the WKU Dance Company for all four years, performing works by Meghen McKinley, Amanda Clark, Anna Patsfall, Karen Mareck-Grundy, and Rich Ashworth. Cordelia also enhanced her choreographic skills by choreographing for The Dance Project and serving as The Dance Project Student Director in her senior year.
During the summer months she trained at Sarasota Contemporary Dance, Nashville Ballet, Ballet Tucson, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, and was Resident Assistant at the WKU Dance Summer Intensive in 2023.
This will be Cordelia’s first season with GHDT, and she is looking forward to dancing with a talented cast and performing for such a wonderful community!
Meet GHDT's new dancers.
Sophie Jones is originally from Northern Kentucky. She started her formal dance training at age 3 at MJM Studios Inc. She received her Bachelors Degree in Dance from Western Kentucky University. During her time at WKU, Sophie performed pieces by Karen Mareck, Rich Ashworth, Nathan Fister, and Shyama Iyer, alongside works by the faculty. Sophie is trained in ballet, tap, jazz, modern, with Bharatanatyam experience, with additional training at Eisenhower Dance Detroit, Danceworks Chicago, Noble Motion, Chicago Tap Theatre, and Salt Contemporary Dance. Recent collaborations include Eric Handman and Lindsey Matheis. She looks forward to joining Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre for their 27th season!

Next up!
I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Ron Morgan. While the community is aware of all of Ron's contributions to musical theatre, show choir, and dance education, not as many may be aware of the contribution Ron made to our company (Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre). We simply would not exist today without the support of Ron Morgan. For many years, when I taught dance at Ron's schools, Ron donated space to the company to rehearse. He gave us a home. We are forever grateful for this. Our community has lost a bright star, but his legacy will live on in all those who were touched by his talents, generosity and kindness. Our current dancers in the company, did not know Ron, but they know of his impact on our company, and thus their careers. Rest in peace. My sincere condolences.
