A LESSER KNOW FUNCTION OF THE OBLIQUES IS TO PULL YOUR RIB CAGE DOWN AND IN TOWARDS YOUR PELVIS TO COUNTERACT RIB FLARE. STRONG OBLIQUES HELP YOU TO KEEP YOUR RIBS STACKED ON TOP OF YOUR PELVIS. THIS AIDS IN CREATING INTRA-ABDOMINAL PRESSURE WHICH HELPS YOU TO AVOID INJURY WHEN YOU LIFT HEAVY THINGS. WEAKNESS IN THE OBLIQUES CAN LEAD TO POOR POSTURE, OVER ACTIVATION OF THE BACK MUSCLES, AND ALSO ALTER YOUR BREATHING PATTERN. Awhile back…I posted pictures of me adjusting my boys at our home. That post got a lot of interest from the mothers in my practice. So let me answer this question…..I do adjust kids, and I’m happy to adjust yours! I do, equally as often, refer to pediatric chiropractors when necessary and appropriate. If you’ve been considering getting your children adjusted, ask me. I am happy to discuss with you and help you decide which path is best for your child and your particular concerns. Now that we got that out of the way……did you see these sweet boys?! I have never had children be more excited about their first ever adjustment. They were typical boys (busy, curious, button-pushing, and a little noisy) until they laid down on my table. They each laid still, cooperated beautifully, and made me giggle. I love my job, and I love your babies! Thanks for sharing them with me!

It’s a little dusty, but it’s mine! I would like to introduce you to the new clinic space that we will call HOME! There’s work to be done…..painting, putting together furniture,t hanging art, and…..most importantly……creating a space that each of you feel excited to visit! Official opening day will be April 9th! Mission Rebrand complete!!!

Our 9 year old ⬆️ has been working with a speed and agility coach. He has homework each week to work on his mobility and his power. And….he does it….each week! He’s getting stronger and more confident. He has cut time off his sprints and he’s doing better pushups than most adults I know. And I’m here to tell you….if Truett can do it, so can you! You have to put in the time and do the work to get stronger, more flexible, more mobile, and to move better. So this is a friendly reminder from the doctor who has given you homework. How sugar affects your immune system!⬇️
Did you know that the sugar rush you get after eating Halloween candy and pumpkin pie and candy canes and margaritas can create a measurable affect on your overall immunity? A research study out of Loma Linda University in California showed that after ingesting sugars, your neutrophils (your immune systems’s first line of defense against invaders) exhibited a significantly decreased capacity to engulf bacteria. This affect was strongest within the first 2 hours of ingesting sugar but can last for up to five hours! So if you and your family are seemingly fighting off cold after cold after cold since October, this might be part of the reason why. We are guilty at our house of letting our guard down this time of year as well. What can you do to combat this sugar overdose? Drink plenty of water. Get 8 hours of restful sleep. Meditate or use methods to reduce anxiety. Take your multi-vitamins and other immune support supplements (happy to give you suggestions)! Exercise regularly. Eat Whole Foods!
