Chair Yoga begins this Wednesday, September 8th at 11:30AM in the Large Studio.
Chair Yoga is right for those who work long hours at a desk or who are unable to participate in a traditional yoga class because of age or injury. Chair yoga increases flexibility, range of motion, and strengthens personal body awareness. In this yoga class you will be seated in the chair or standing behind for support and balance, with no need to get up and down from the floor.
There is a $10 senior discount for those who pay with cash or check.

It opens the heart and chest for courage as well as breath.

Diane M- One of my favorite standing postures is Reverse / Exalted Warrior.
This pose strengthens the feet, ankles, knees, quads, hips and glutes.
It stretches the calves, hamstrings, groin, adductors, hip flexors, obliques, intercostals, chest and shoulders. Improves spinal mobility and enhances your ability to breathe freely.
A great pose for runners!

Diane- Warrior II is one of my favorite yoga asanas. The pose for me speaks to strength and flexibility.
From my feet and tips of my fingers, I feel my power and energy moving to the center of my body and it travels up and releases as a bright light through the crown of my head. When in Warrior II I am grounded in the moment, present in my life, while looking forward and remaining flexible to the changes and opportunities that are ahead.
All with an open heart; open to cherish the perfect present, open to change, and open to future growth and potential. All qualities valuable on and off the mat.

- This cross leg sitting posture (Siddhasana) became my favorite asana as I get deeper into my practice.
A posture that requires a certain technique so that body’s alignment will facilitate a deep pranayama deep breathing technique.
This position can be hold for long periods of time and it can be practiced anytime, anywhere.

Cathy- One of my favorite yoga poses is Tree pose (Vrksasana). For me, there's a sense of grounding and stability as well as lightness, growth and freedom.
I find equal opportunity to move and sway or stay completely still. Either way, I love the balance of effort and ease as I connect to my breath and mind in Tree.
