Hurricane season starts June 1st, and NOAA National Weather Service forecasters are predicting above-normal hurricane activity in the Atlantic basin in 2024. NOAA is forecasting a range of 17 to 25 total named storms (winds of 39 mph or higher). Of those, 8 to 13 are forecast to become hurricanes (winds of 74 mph or higher), including 4 to 7 major hurricanes (category 3, 4 or 5; with winds of 111 mph or higher).

Effective April 1st, rules for pets on the beach in Carolina Beach change as follows:

Municipal Beach Strand:
NO PETS ALLOWED between 9AM-5PM
Pets must be on leash at all times

Freeman Park Beach Strand:
Pets allowed 24/7
Pets must be on leash at all times

Also, please remember that pets are not allowed on the wooden parts of the boardwalk nor in the Boardwalk Business District at any time-this includes sidewalks, walkways, or public property east of Canal Dr. from the north side of Harper Ave. (Hampton Inn location) up to and including Cape Fear Blvd. (Gazebo area).

It's official – Britt's Donut Shop is opening for the season THIS Friday, March 22! Swing by the Carolina Beach Boardwalk and treat yourself to one of the tastiest sweets around! Doors open at 4 p.m. Friday and close at 10 p.m. — or until the donuts run out. See you there! 🌊🍩

The iconic donut shop will operate on long weekends (Friday through Sunday) from 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays and 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays through Memorial Day weekend, before opening with their full summer hours through Labor Day. And don’t forget, they’re cash only!
