why? Kyun? Porque? L•O•T•U•S 🪷

Apart it being the National flower of the very country my family & I originate from (India) there is a much deeper reason and meaning to my choosing the lotus flower. 🇮🇳

🪷 first off, it’s beautiful & stunning just the way I intend every bride and client to feel when they are in my presence.

🪷the fact that it is so strong and courageous that it miraculously grows out of the murkiest of waters just fascinates me. This is also a metaphor to MY very life; but that’s a story for another day.

🪷 it symbolizes resilience, strength and rebirth - just like each bride braving a new chapter of their life with so much courage.

🪷 and lastly, Lotus’ are known to grow in Southeast Asia and Australia. And I’ll let you take a guess as to where my husband is from.

These were all the signs that led me to place LOTUS as the main character of my business name. 🙌🏽

Why RED? Why did I choose RED for my business name?

❤️ red is the traditional color for bridal gowns in India

💄 red sindoor (red powder) is applied to our brides forehead to symbolize she is now married

💋 red is the color of passion and energy - when I set forth to start a business I knew it was my passion and energy that would get me far

💃🏻it’s the color of love - self explanatory

👠 When we feel as though our risks won’t be accompanied by reward, red tells us otherwise.

🍒 cherry on top is that the actual word is short and sweet - win win!!

Simply put, the color red can’t be described in a word or two. It embodies so many wonderful qualities, including love, kindness, and familiarity. And this is what my team and I exude with each and every one of our brides!

Been doing this for 10 years and the STARS all seem so close, the good good stuff is here! Well, if you haven’t seen yet, we officially have a corporate office now. Like our name is about to be plastered onto a glass door BIG BIG stuff.

For years now RLA has been ran out of my home for the most part. Now that we have students who want to learn from RLA all around and as busy as we are getting it was time to upgrade that home space.

I’m going to def miss the ease of everything just being here at home, but it’s also something like a fresh breath of air that comes with this that I look MOST forward to.

Need some time to get all our stuff moved in and RLA-ified but once we are almost done we will full blast into so many new and fun things.

Brides you will have your trial at our headquarters, no longer in my home 🙌🏽

The official comeback of our Get Lotused classes, Makeup & Mimosas will begin asap. Look forward to seeing all our new Lotuses getting all the education they need to level up their makeup game.

Then another special business and I are setting foot with something elite & innovative that NOBODY else is doing. Yeah I gotta say it, STAYYYYY TUNED for that one. The launch date has yet TBD.

ANDDDD, the official launch of PRO MUA courses will begin also! WHEWWWW!!!

Taking it back to when Harshal and I had our e-shoot! Was I a MUA yet, NOOOOO. Did I know I would be going into Artistry at that time, NOOOOO. But, with this man by my side, he has inspired and supported and motivated me when it gets tough to keep pushing through.

Harshal ordered 100% of my pro kit when I decided I wanted to do this. He spent countless hours doing all the research for me. And he ordered them and had it all sent to my front door. All while he was still living in Australia and I had just began my journey living in Dallas!

This is what the morning looked like:

Step 1 - get the bride fully ready head to toe for first look with family and then groom.

Step 2 - return back asap to do a quick outfit and jewelry change for the बरात

Step 3 - party it up like you’re at the real darn Mardi Gras in NOLA! The Louisianans def brought the Mardi Gras vibes to Punta Cana

Step 4 - returned back to bridal suite to get ready to walk down the aisle. We changed back into her sari, re-adorned her with her jewels, touch ups as needed, re-draped her veil/dupatta and then she was READY to say I Do!

Loved every moving part!

Payal loves white, and damn, does she pull it off like a model! Needless to say THAT. IS. HER. COLOR!

The most unique thing about and working with her was her definition of taste, glam, and standing out of the crowd. When there are millions of weddings taking place, many brides want to do something that will be memorable and standout.

AND, I think her vision is exactly spot on! When one sees this white dress with veil/dupatta draped on her head - one would think — Wedding! BUT, nope, pre-wedding event it was!

Had so much fun with glitter and the level of glam we took this look to.

All of this after her complete wash off shower from her pithi and pool dive.

We carry a million things, OKAY OKAY, it’s not a million but sure does feel like it sometimes - ask any MUA.

So we gotta do whatever we can to condense wherever we can but still have everything we need to create these HD flawless looks.

One WORD - BRONZER!

Find a bronzer that you love utilize that to not only level up your golden glow around the perimeter of your face but to use as a nice transition color on your eyes. BEST part of you choose the right shade you can even utilize it to layer it on as your blush too.

E-Shoots - what you should know!
your eshoot is just important as your actual wedding SO plan ahead with these action items:

💛 schedule your location with photo/video (video is so crucial for your highlight video, if you want one anyway)

💛 designate who will be doing your hair and makeup. Is it going to be your wedding MUA? Are you doing it yourself? And book accordingly

(At this point the most difficult part is ensuring all 3 vendors are available on the same date)

💛 plan out your looks and changes and where changes will take place. Get the help of your MUA to plan out hair and makeup based on those changes. Even if your booked artist for wedding is not doing it - they we would be happy to help create a vision board with you

💛 get your nails done and get a glow up facial/dermaplaning week before shoot - trust me the dermaplaning helps with those up close shots

💛 steam iron clothes day of shoot or day before

💛 take water and snacks with you because you will need it. TRUST

AND GET READY TO NONSTOP smile for hours. BUT, most importantly HAVE FUN!!! Your photo/video team got you from there.

honestly, I can’t answer that bc both finishes are just drop dead gorgeous to me. To me it all depends on my client and their needs, wants and on the other hand the type of skin they have. They all play key factors in deciding which method will be the absolute best for your wedding events.

THE moment! THE one! THE time when all the moments of stress of planning comes down to that very moment you walk down the aisle. Your veil is set, you make is glammed, your outfit is on and you’re embellished in the jewelry you probably spent many minutes deciding on - and is GO time!

What is going on in your mind?

My story is pretty laughable, bc I got married in India and the DJ just couldn’t get his sh*t together and couldn’t/wouldn’t play the song I meant to walk down the aisle for. I was frustrated and I was irritated so all I could think and say out loud was, “I AM NOT walking down this aisle until he plays the right song!” Everyone, I’m sure, thought I was being such a bridezilla but eh, I fought for THE moment I wanted for that memory. Harshal crying as I walked down the aisle made it ALLLLLLLL worth it! 🫶🏼 And, I’d do it all over again, if I could. (Well, except with a different DJ, and maybe choose a different location too) 😜

Let’s take it back to Corpus Christi for a moment - bc like we were all so swooned by Tejal’s glam for her grand finale look - the RECEPTION!!!

There was no denying that Tejal was also our super soft glam loving bride but she was ready to take it to the next level for the reception and just WOW!!! Emily killed it with her hair, Tejal’s choice for outfit was so fun and different and chefs kiss to the entire team including the super talented photographer 🙌🏽 Brides don’t sleep on her work and creativity!!

Naturally, my content creator, .benita and I, did work a magnificent REEL for Dharti’s reception but I wanted to give a REEEEEEL break and do some pictures post. So stay tuned for the reel.

Let’s talk about wedding stress, yeah that big bad word when it consumes your whole world as you plan your wedding.

Stress manifests in many different ways and one of them can be impulse fast decisions and/or your skin just not accepting this new levels of stress.

Dharti has clear skin normally, and wedding week came and her skin was not gracious. I knew that airbrush was the best way to go so minimal things were touching her face for the first two events. I planned ahead that if I touch her face minimally with brushes and excessive makeup that this will leave me room to do the glam that was tasteful yet flawless with the traditional brush method. And her skin was GIVING 🤌🏽 👩🏽‍🍳 😚!!

I knew that after the reception she would have the ability to have time, space and room to de stress.

Makeup knowledge and delivering what clients wants and needs are was. A. SUCCESS!!!!
