"After one week with my brand new AMT 1-Ds, I would like to offer a few impressions:
These speakers are not as hard on the eyes as everyone has been saying. In fact the rich walnut compliments the room nicely and I love the classic look of the grills.

As far as the sound is concerned, I have not heard any records, CDs, or streaming music that didn’t sound perfect to my old ears. From Mozart to Miles to Dark Side of the Moon, and everything in between, the music is clean and pure. Thanks to the air motion transformer I am hearing highlights and nuances in songs I have never heard before. The 12-inch woofer with rear firing passive radiator provide satisfying low notes that you can both hear and feel. There is none of the fatigue I have felt from listening to other speakers after more than a couple hours.

The ESS also have great presence and are not as dependent on placement in the room as other speakers are. They sound just as good 10-inches from the wall as 24-inches or more.
Lastly, at 6 ohms impedance, my 75 watt per channel Marantz receiver is able to push them to a very high volume with plenty of room to go louder.

I have a feeling that ESS was able to match really good components with a solid cabinet and crossover to create an almost perfect pair of speakers.”
