Understanding Through-Hole Technology
At Yun Industrial Acme PCB Assembly, we offer a service called through-hole assembly, also known as “tru-hole assembly.” What is this service, and is it something you should consider for your next printed circuit board project?
The defining characteristic of through-hole assembly is that holes are drilled through the printed circuit boards, and the PCB leads are inserted through those holes and soldered onto the opposite sides. Through-hole assembly has been around since the 1950s. Though much through-hole assembly has been replaced by surface-mount technology, there are still some uses for through-hole. For example, they can be used to make interconnections between layers on SMT boards.

Proud to Be a Lead-Free PCB Assembly Provider
There’s a reason that in the United States we no longer allow lead in paint or in gasoline. Though lead is a naturally occurring element, it can be highly toxic to humans. It has been connected with behavior and learning problems, lower IQ, slowed growth, anemia, and even coma and death in severe cases. Children and pregnant women are the most at risk of lead poisoning.

Understanding Silk Screen Technology in Printed Circuit Board (PCB)
Adding the silkscreen layer onto a printed circuit board is the final step in the fabrication process. Silkscreen is a layer that uses ink traces to identify all the PCB board components, test points, parts of the PCB, warning symbols, logos and marks etc. These shapes, numbers, and letters really aren’t some new language. They can also communicate the function of each of the pins. This silkscreen is applied on the component side; all though you may find the use of silkscreen on the solder side is also not uncommon, which will increase the cost. Essentially a detailed PCB silkscreen will benefit both the manufacturer and the engineer to locate and identify all the components.

Why Use Acrylic Conformal Coating
Conformal coating protects circuit boards against harsh environments so that your PCBs can last longer and operate more efficiently. Several different popular conformal coatings exist, including urethane conformal coating and silicone conformal coating. One of the most popular types of conformal coating is acrylic conformal coating.

Our Automated X-Ray Inspection Catches What the Eye Can’t See
When manufacturing a printed circuit board, many components are hidden from the human eye. Even those parts that are visible are very small, making it difficult to effectively inspect a circuit board for defects.
At Yun Industrial Acme PCB Assembly, we have integrated several different inspection processes into our overall workflow system. These include quality inspection clips and automated optical inspection. Another part of our inspection process is the Automated X-ray Inspection. To perform this inspection, we use X-ray technology to look beneath the surface of the printed circuit board. This allows us to see every aspect of the PCB to look for defects and anomalies.

The Benefits Of SMT
Surface-mount technology requires knowing the entire process that it entails. Surface-mount technology has specific demands for the design process since you need to use special PCB tools. As soon as the design is ready, the manufacturer will always do the testing with a single board first.
The prototype we create for you will have the task of confirming that the fabrication based on that design is possible and error-free. Once you confirm that, the entire process is virtually pretty much automated, and requires minimal involvement.

Differences Between Metal Punching and Stamping
Oftentimes, people who are not strictly linked with metal works fields, can confuse between the sheet metal punching and the sheet metal stamping.
This happens because, at first glance, the meaning of these two words might seem the same. On the contrary, the sheet metal punching and the stamping are really different starting from the equipment required to achieve punching and stamping.

Is it Possible to Recycle Your Unused Printed Circuit Boards?
We will be discussing the issue of PCB recycling, if it’s even possible, how it is done and what can we do as electronics design engineers to create more recyclable PCBs. When we say PCB we are meaning a PCB without any components on it. Most electronic devices found out there have their components sitting in a nice looking Printed Circuit Board or PCB.

Providing Surface-Mount Technology
Yun Industrial specializes in Surface-Mount Technology (SMT) to apply components to the surface of PCBs. Keep in mind, you will need to do your homework before you move forward in switching an existing electronic product design from through-hole technology to surface mount technology (SMT).

A Few Important Uses for Through-Hole PCBs
Through-hole PCBs may be bigger and clunkier than SMT PCBs, but they do offer up one important advantage. Through-hole components are attached far more securely than SMT, which gives them a much stronger connection between layers. SMT connections are strong enough for the vast majority of products that people use in their day-to-day lives, but for machines that must operate in extreme environments, through-hole is the more reliable and stable option.
For example, through-hole PCBs can be commonly found in machines in the military and aerospace industries. Oftentimes, these machines must survive extreme temperatures, forceful collisions, and rapid accelerations. Through-hole is the ideal reliable and resilient mounting option for these types of products.

Ball Grid Array (BGA) Assembly Inspections
ACME PCB Assembly has provided (Ball Grid Array) BGA assembly, BGA rework, and BGA reballing service for Printed Circuit Boards since 1994. Having 20+ years experience behind us, we have extensive knowledge on how to assemble high quality (Ball Grid Array) BGAs. We have experience with everything from Micro BGAs to large size BGAs (55 mm), and ceramic BGAs to plastic BGAs.
https://boardassembly.com/whats-new/ball-grid-array-assembly-inspectons/
WHAT ARE PCB TRACES?
If you’ve ever held a printed circuit board in your hand, you probably noticed a tiny network of lines running across the motherboard, like lots of little roads. What are these roads and what do they do? Those lines are called “traces,” and they perform an extremely important task for the PCB.
https://yic-assm.com/what-are-pcb-traces/
WHY YOU MAY NOT WANT TO WORK WITH A BIG PCB ASSEMBLY VENDOR
When it comes to hiring parts and assembly vendors, bigger is only better until you need a custom project. You might think that hiring the biggest PCB assembly service provider will mean greater efficiency, but it also means less flexibility. These massive companies can spit out printed circuit boards quickly, but they can’t always turn on a dime when your needs change. Also, unless you’re a massive company, like Apple or Qualcomm, you might not get the personal attention that you’re looking for.
https://yic-assm.com/why-you-might-not-want-to-work-with-a-massive-pcb-assembly-vendor/
Why You Should Consider Ball Grid Array Packaging
Do you want to reduce the package size of your chip carrier and get more functionality from each of your chip modules? Then consider ball grid array (BGA) packaging. BGA is a surface mount technology that is rapidly growing in popularity among manufacturers. This packaging technique utilizes the underside of a chip package for greater connectivity. BGA allows manufacturers to fit more interconnection pins on the surface of the packaging, which results in better performance of the chip carrier.
https://yic-assm.com/why-you-should-consider-ball-grid-array-packaging/
Wetting issues are classified by Non-wetting and Dewetting.
Non-wetting can be defined by saying it has the inability of molten solder to form a metallic bond with the base metal. This makes it so the PCB pads or the component’s terminals not catching the solder during the reflow process.
https://yic-assm.com/are-you-experiencing-smt-non-wetting-issues/
The Benefits Of Package-On-Package Assembly
Package-on-Package (PoP) is a type of IC packaging method that combines ball grid array (BGA) packages. In this method, two or more packages are vertically installed (i.e. stacked) with an interface that can direct signals between them.
There are two popular configurations for PoP assemblies:
Pure Memory Stacking: multiple memory packages are stacked on each other
Mixed Logic-Memory Stacking: a memory package is stacked on top of a CPU package

Understanding BGA Assembly Technology
A Ball Grid Array or (BGA) is a SMT (Surface Mount Technology) package that is most commonly used for Integrated Circuits (ICs) with a large number of pins. Ball grid array packaging is a method for reducing package size and integrating a greater number of functions on a single chip module.

Did You Know That We Can Also Rework Your Defective PCBs?
When you put in a large order for printed circuit boards from a PCB assembly service provider, you may find that a few circuit boards are defective in each bunch. Rather than write these circuit boards off as a loss (and lose your investment), you may be able to give them new life.
At ACME PCB Assembly, we may be able to re-work and repair some defective printed circuit boards. Often, this requires de-soldering and re-soldering components. This is manual work that must be performed by a trained technician. Fortunately, we have highly qualified staff members who can perform these repairs for you. This way, you don’t have to write off so many PCBs and can re-coup at least some of your costs.

What is a PCB Silkscreen on Printed Circuit Boards?
Were you one of those kids who loved to take apart every electronic thing in your house? If so, you’ve probably pulled out your fair share of green printed circuit boards. It’s cool to hold them and to run your fingers over all their little metallic bumps. When you brought them close to your eye, you could even see little white designs, numbers, and letters drawn on them. What is this mysterious language? It’s called the PCB silkscreen.

What is Automated X-Ray Inspection for PCB?
Yun Industrial Acme Printed Circuit boards offers the top-quality and technology in the manufacturing and testing of printed circuit board assembly. We also X-ray inspect all of our products, this technique is widely used in PCB assembly in order to maintain excellent quality in their products.
Xray Printed Circuit Boards USAAutomated X-ray inspection (AXI) is a technology based on the same principles as automated optical inspection (AOI). It uses X-rays as its source, instead of visible light, to automatically inspect features, which are typically hidden from view.

Why Consider Using Through Hole Printed Circuit Boards?
In the printed circuit board business, there are two primary ways to mount components onto the circuit board: through-hole mounting and surface mounting. Through-hole mounting is the older technology and requires the circuit board manufacturer to drill holes through the PCB and place leads into the holes. More recently, surface mounted technology has taken over the field.

WHAT YOU CAN LEARN ABOUT A VENDOR BY ITS PREVIOUS CUSTOMERS
Working with a brand new vendor can be risky. So can working with a vendor that hasn’t taken on a client as big or as demanding as you. After all, you don’t want to be the company that forces your vendor to confront brand new challenges or work out kinks like lack of labor or an inability to meet your stringent deadlines.
It can be difficult to evaluate the experience of a new vendor. One of the best ways is to look at their past customer list. Have they worked with companies that are as big and as sophisticated as yours? Have they worked with even bigger companies, which indicates that they will have no problem taking on your work?

Can a Rigid Printed Circuit Board Include Surface Mount Technology and Thru-Hole Technology?
In previous blog posts, we’ve explained the difference between surface mount technology (SMT) and thru-hole technology. The vast majority of rigid printed circuit boards (PCBs) use surface mount technology, because SMT components are smaller than thru-hole components and can be mounted on both sides of the board. This allows PCB manufacturers to place more SMT components on the board, which results in smaller PCBs that offer better performance than a thru-hole counterpart.

What Is Box Build Assembly?
A box build assembly is just like the name says. It involves us assembling various PCB (Printed Circuit Boards) connected through various wiring and with other cables. This process includes PCB fabrication, its installation and then connecting all the components with various wire and cable to get a complete system. This system has many sub-assemblies and lots of other electronic components that are installed in the assembly.

Does Your Circuit Board Vendor Maintain a Clean Environment?
Circuit boards are delicate things, and even the smallest particle of dust or contamination can disrupt the functionality of the circuit board, leading to a drop in its efficiency. Circuit board assemblers use a conformal coating to protect circuit boards from contaminants, but problems can arise when contaminants are already on the circuit board before the conformal coating can be applied.

Consider a Conformal Coating for Your Printed Circuit Boards
We all know that electronic equipment doesn’t hold up well against the elements without a little help. The same is true of printed circuit boards. The delicate traces, wiring, components, and insulation can easily be damaged by exposure to chemicals, contaminants, and especially moisture. No company wants its electronic products to quickly fail as soon as they are out of the box, so how can manufacturers protect their products and specifically the printed circuit boards within?

Adding Acrylic Conformal Coating To Your Printed Circuit Boards
Acrylic resins (AR) are single component materials. To specify, they are preformed acrylic polymers that are dissolved in a solvent to be applied to surfaces. One main benefit of using an Acrylic conformal coating service on your electronics is it provides an excellent barrier to moisture/humidity and have good fungus resistance. They also have minimal chemical resistance which makes it ideal for reworking and removability.
