• If your work requires that your bend over a lot, straighten up as often as you can and stretch. Use your legs instead of your back whenever you can. Squatting is always preferable to bending you back.

• Anytime you lift from any position, don't twist your spine. Twisting while bending or lifting puts tremendous unnatural strain on your back.

Millions of Americans suffer from chronic headaches of one type or another- headaches that usually last a long time and recur frequently. In severity, such headaches may range from rather mild pain to excruciating pain of the worst sort, but all have one feature in common: they always return and are sometimes worse than before. In desperation, many headache victims turn to pain pills to turn off the pain.

Unfortunately, pain pills do nothing to treat the underlying causes- the true causes- of chronic headaches. Thus, without proper care, the headache victim's life becomes a vicious cycle of headache- pain killer- headache- pain killer, and on and on.

But that's not all, a feeling of despair usually overtakes the victim. The intimidating pain, the frequent misery and the presumption that the headaches will never go completely away eventually beat down even the most optimistic person. And no wonder. Imagine how it is, having tried every remedy you can think of, but still, the headaches keep marching back with no end in sight.

Though the causes of chronic headaches may be complex and may vary widely from person to person- even among those exhibiting the same symptoms- chiropractic doctors know from experience that chronic headaches are often associated with misaligned vertebrae pinching or impinging spinal nerves. Accidents and falls of various kinds often bring in back pain and trouble. That's to be expected. What surprises and frustrates people and those "instant" back pain episodes that seems to strike without warning like a bolt from the blue. You bend over to tie your shoe- or pick up the baby- and WHAM- you can't straighten up.

Such back pain may appear to be instant, but instead is often the culmination of a series of minor repetitive, accumulated, overuse spinal stresses which were barely noticed until the day of reckoning...like the straw that broke the camel's back.

Other contributors to back pain and trouble- usually accumulated also- include muscle spasms and strains; weak abdominal and back muscles; minor imbalances; minor genetic imperfections; and other minor structural problems.

Not always- but most of the time- those minor biomechanics problems send out subtle signals indicating that back trouble is brewing. The warning signals are often weak, so you need to be on the lookout for them.

Warning signals that often precede "instant" back pain.
• Dull, low backache sometimes branching into thigh and leg. Sometimes one and off. Lifting, turning, bending may produce a twinge so mild it's barely noticed.
• Mild pain or ache anywhere in back.
• Impaired neck, shoulder, back flexibility.
• Pain between or around shoulders.
• Neck stiffness, pain and restricted movement.
• Headache.
• Numbness, coldness, tingling, or pain in arms, legs, hands, or feet.
• A heavy, tired feeling in neck, shoulders, arms or legs.
• Frequent anxiety.
• Dizziness.
• Ringing in ears, hearing diminished.

To make this refreshing juice, you don't even need a juicer. All you have to do is combine the ingredients in your blender and add enough water to reach the desired consistency.

Ingredients(Serves 2):⁠
• 2 medium beets
• 2 large carrots
• 1 medium apple
• 1 cup cold water
⁠• 1 inch piece ginger root

Directions:⁠
1. In a blender, combine all the the ingredients and blend until as smooth as possible.
2. Press the mixture through a fine mesh strainer until all of the juice is out.
3. Discard the pulp, pour into glasses, and serve.

What's so good about it?⁠

• Beet: Beets and beet greens are an excellent source of iron, choline, iodine, manganese, potassium, and vitamins A and C. Additionally, studies have shown that beets help to oxygenate the blood, enhancing performance while exercising.⁠

• Carrot: Carrots are one of the most readily available vegetables, and they are incredibly rich in vitamins and minerals. Carrots are a great source of vitamins A, B and C as well as iron, calcium, potassium, and sodium. Carrots also contain beta-carotene and carotenoids, which help reduce the risk for cancer, cardiovascular disease, and macular degeneration.⁠
