AOFS was busy last night! In addition to our event in Decatur, we also presented an enriching evening of learning and networking at the Atlanta Country Club for our East Cobb, West Cobb, and Kennestone referrals. Hosted by Dr. Joshua Levy, Dr. Paul “PJ” Schaner, and Dr. Robert Wunderle III, this first session of a 3-part mini residency series was tailored to doctors seeking to refine skills in treatment planning and case presentation. Dr. Ouellette led us through advanced clinical insights and cutting-edge techniques, while guests enjoyed great food and drinks. Thanks to all who joined us! Looking forward to the next session!

Thanks to everyone who came out to our educational happy hour last night! Pediatric, Orthodontic, and Family Decatur top referring dentists gathered for food, drinks, and a short presentation on Wisdom Teeth from our very own surgeons, Dr. Cole and Dr. Satishchandran. We had a great time getting to know everyone and learning more about when to refer, stages of development, and what patients can expect when getting their third molars removed. Upon completion of his residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital-Dallas, TX in 1985, Dr. LaBanc began his career in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Florida in Gainesville where he quickly became a recognized national and international expert and researcher in the microneurosurgical repair of trigeminal nerve injuries, craniofacial reconstructive surgery, and facial aesthetic surgery.

Dr. LaBanc transitioned from academics into the U. S. Navy in 1998. He narrowed his scope of practice to orthognathic surgery and facial aesthetic surgery. It was during his first deployment to Iraq that he discovered a passion for operational trauma systems and care. He subsequently served as a consultant to the Navy Health Research Institute focusing on maxillofacial injuries and forward resuscitative care. He is also an internationally recognized expert in humanitarian assistance/disaster response, combat trauma care and reconstructive surgery.

Dr. LaBanc is also a member of the American Dental Association, American Association of OMS and a diplomat for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. LaBanc practices out of the Sugar Hill office and the Sugarloaf office.

Last night we had a blast with our top Rome referrals! Dr. Nunn, Salman, and Kragor hosted a wonderful summer referral appreciation happy hour at Foundry on Fifth complete with drinks, delicious artisan pizza courtesy of Pizza Roma, a beach themed raffle prize, and plenty of good times and conversation. Last Thursday kicked off our exclusive 3-part mini-series on treatment planning and case presentation with Dr. Matt Milner! Our Canton and Woodstock referrals learned about identifying intricate cases, communicating effectively with the patient, devising treatment plans, and collaborating with specialists to coordinate care. Hosted by Dr. Robert Wunderle III, Dr. Chris Kragor, & Dr. Robert McGhee, the evening was not just about learning but also about forging connections over drinks and a delicious meal from Prime 120. Thanks to all for coming and enriching our event! We couldn't do it without you!

Last night was a blast! Our Cu***ng, Johns Creek, Hamilton Mill, Sugar Hill, and Sugarloaf referring dentists gathered for a CE program featuring Dr. Jay Smith and his point of view on implant restorations, including the strategies for handling complications. With a packed house of nearly 80 attendees at Frankies, everyone enjoyed a pre-dinner social hour, a delicious meal, an extremely informative and engaging discussion, and some fun summer raffle prizes! Thanks to everyone who joined us and thanks to Drs Belinfante, Jo, LaBanc, Meaders, and Threadgill for hosting. We had an awesome night with you all and we hope you did too!

✨Meet Brooklynn✨ Atlanta Oral and Facial Surgery’s Marketing Director! With nearly 4 years of service at AOFS and almost 10 in the dental field, Brooklynn started as a treatment coordinator for the Rome office and currently serves as the fearless leader of the marketing team and marketing coordinator for the Cartersville office. Brooklynn handles CE planning, budget management, data organization, referral relations, and so much more. Her tireless efforts in executing marketing strategies and exceptional ability to juggle many tasks at once have been instrumental in achieving goals. Despite everything on her plate, Brooklynn also somehow always manages to provide unwavering support to her team members. On behalf of the whole marketing team, thank you Brooklynn, for consistently going above and beyond to help everyone around you! Your hard work and unwavering dedication does not go unnoticed!
Outside of work, Brooklynn finds joy in spontaneous beach trips, serene lakeside camping, and quality time at the park with her son Bowen, husband Ben, and dog Huckleberry. Her love for old movies is only rivaled by her passion for UGA football, stemming from her roots in Athens where Saturdays were synonymous with tailgates. Dr. Antwan L. Treadway, hailing from St. Petersburg, FL, embarked on his academic journey at the University of Florida in 1984, where his passion for biological sciences flourished. He earned accolades as a student leader and graduated with a degree in microbiology and cellular genetics before pursuing dentistry. After completing his D.M.D. at UF, he delved into Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery through residencies at renowned institutions like Bronx Lebanon Hospital in New York City and Martin Luther King/Charles R. Drew University’s Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. Dr. Treadway's remarkable career includes groundbreaking achievements such as being the first African American full-time faculty member in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Medical College of Georgia and serving as president of the Georgia Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He remains a dedicated advocate for patients, students, and the profession through his active involvement in various dental associations.

Today, Dr. Treadway practices out of our Douglasville office, where he provides exceptional care to his patients with a focus on dental implants and reconstructive dentistry.

Get to know Dr. Keim ✨
Dr. R. Paul Keim, a Kansas City native, earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas and his dental degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He completed his General Practice Residency at Children’s Hospital of Oklahoma City and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. With ten years of solo practice in Kansas City, Dr. Keim is board certified and active in organized dentistry, holding leadership roles in various societies. He served two terms as president of the Greater Kansas City Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and was previously president for the Kansas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Keim specializes in dentoalveolar surgery, anesthesia, dental implants, and orthognathic surgery. A Marist parent residing in Dunwoody, he enjoys golf and supporting his favorite teams, the University of Kansas Jayhawks, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Royals.

Dr. Keim practices out of our Dunwoody and Alpharetta offices and is on staff at Northside Hospital – Forsyth and Northside Hospital – Dunwoody.

Meet Valeria ✨

Valeria is a Surgical Assistant and ITC at our Fayetteville office. With over 5 years of experience at AOFS, Valeria is a huge asset to our team. She works with her surgeons, Dr Gonzalez and Dr. Lee, to keep surgeries running efficiently, help patients feel comfortable and taken care of, and assist our many referrals on the implant restoration process. According to her coworker Channa, Valeria “She’s a hard worker! She always gets the job done and is very helpful and sweet to everyone!” Outside of the office, you can find Valeria at a concert, traveling, cuddling with her cat, Cleo, or spending time with her friends and family. Valeria is all about trying new things, listening to all types of music, and dancing!

Meet Kaitlyn✨

Kaitlyn is a Patient Coordinator for our Kennestone office and is coming up on 1 year with AOFS. She works hard in her position to help patients, support her surgeons, and streamline office operations. According to Andrea Bishop, Kaitlyn has been “going above and beyond” to keep things running at our busy Kennestone office. Outside of work, Kaitlyn enjoys reading, video games, and spending time with her 2 cats, Sky and Hazel. Kaitlyn says, “I love animals and being with my friends and family.” Thank you for all your hard work, Kaitlyn!

Here is a little bit about Dr. Meaders:

Dr. Meaders was raised in northeast Georgia near Cleveland. After receiving his bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Georgia, he attended the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry in Augusta, where he received his D.M.D. degree. After dental school, he moved to Oklahoma City to attend the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center for his post-doctoral training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. During his residency, Dr. Meaders spent time in Johannesburg, South Africa obtaining additional training in orthognathic surgery at the Carstenhof Clinic and the University of Witswatersrand. Dr. Meaders moved back to Atlanta in 1997 to join AOFS and currently practices out of the Cu***ng and John’s Creek office.

Dr. Meaders, his wife, and their two daughters reside in Suwanee. They enjoy golfing, traveling, photography, reading, computers, and are avid fans of University of Georgia athletics.

Last week our top Dunwoody, Alpharetta, and Roswell referrals joined us for an evening of appreciation! Together we enjoyed a gourmet dinner, refreshing drinks, and valuable networking opportunities. Drs Blair, Keim, and Velez were happy to host their top referring dentists for a night of fun and conversation.

Last night Dr. Stephen Bankston was honored at the Bright Smiles Brighter Futures Gala for his many years of work at the Ben Massell Dental Clinic in Atlanta! He has been the Chief of Staff at the facility since 2012 but has been volunteering there since 2004. Dr. Bankston leads the volunteering staff and helps to advise and direct the clinic in its operations.

The BMDC serves as a dental treatment facility for patients experiencing poverty who have no access to insurance. Volunteer dentists and hygienists give their time once a month and perform treatments such as fillings, extractions, crowns, prosthetics, and deep cleanings. AOFS is proud to have many surgeons on our staff who have donated their services at the clinic over the years, including Dr. Erik Belinfante, Dr. Joshua Levy, Dr. PJ Schaner, and Dr. Antwan Treadway.

Last night's gala celebrated the volunteers who have made the clinic possible while also raising funds to continue providing free, comprehensive oral health services. AOFS was happy to sponsor the event and join in giving back to the Metro Atlanta community!

This week, AOFS Rome and AOFS Cartersville joined together for a day of team building! Dr. Etezadi treated us to the Savoy Automobile Museum, Putt Putt and lunch. It's always so nice to step away from the office for a day and spend time just getting to know your team better outside of the office.
