Nithin's Farm

Farming is our passion and our way of connecting with nature. Note: We are closed for this year and restart again next year April/May. Thanks!

Nithin's Organics aims to grow vegetables organically and supply the local community so they too can benefit from healthy, locally-grown food. We believe strongly in organic agricultural practices that help to enhance soil & water quality, reduce pollution, and promote a self-sustaining recycling of resources on the farm. We will get a chance to explore more and lay a way for the younger generatio

We do enjoy observing nature in action on our farm!

We saw killdeer nest on our farm! Killdeer nests are very fascinating to observe. Killdeer eggs typically hatch in about 24-28 days, will post about hatchlings when the time comes!

Also, we installed couple of birdhouses this week to attract more birds. By providing suitable nesting opportunities, we can help support local bird populations and contribute to the ecological balance on our farm.

Working on these tasks on a farm can be quite rewarding! Spreading compost helps improve soil fertility and structure, which is essential for healthy crop growth. Leveling raised beds ensures uniformity and efficient irrigation, while covering them with w**d covers reduces the need for manual w**ding and minimizes competition for resources.

Every year, Nithin's Farm takes these proactive steps to maintain and improve our farm's productivity to give our customers very healthy & tasty veggies!🌱🍅

Making your own compost is not only a great way to recycle organic waste but also enriches the soil with nutrients, promotes soil health, and reduces the need for any fertilizers. By spreading compost onto your farm/garden, you're improving soil structure, water retention, and microbial activity, which ultimately leads to healthier plants and higher yields with tasty veggies. Plus, it's a sustainable practice that minimizes waste and contributes to a more eco-friendly farming operation. 🌱

🌧️ Grateful for nature's timely rains, nurturing our fields and sustaining life🙏

🌱It was a great week for planting our first veggies of this year at our organic farm, and we had the joy of getting our hands dirty planting onions! It's amazing to be part of the process from start to finish, knowing each bulb will grow into something nourishing. Here's to the hard work and dedication of small farmers everywhere!🙏

Getting more work done when weather gets better at a time!
1. Removed w**ds and added more leaf mulch on Garlic beds
2. Spreading compost on more beds and also added hardwood mulch on pathways to control w**ds.
3. Started more seedlings (Peppers & Eggplants) which needs at least 8 weeks before transplant.

Next two weeks - prepare 10+ onion beds (mix leaf mulch & compost layers using only hand tools) and setup irrigations to plant onions by March 1st week.

Onion Seedlings are getting ready to plant for this year in early March!

Bought new compost for this year and started spreading for onion beds!

Happy New Year!

Nithin's Farm has started 3rd year journey this week with housekeeping greenhouse area, started onions from seed indoors (for early spring planting) and also propagation of plants by stem cuttings (Jasmine, Blackberry and Guava)!

Photos from Nithin's Farm's post 11/06/2023

In full swing, removed all dead plants from the front 1/2 acre plot and made a huge new compost pile!

Many gardeners highly recommend adding mulch to your soil in the fall. Yes, we have started adding shredded leaves for all open beds first!

Planning ahead always helps save you lot of time in early spring!

Photos from Nithin's Farm's post 11/06/2023

Mulched fall planted garlic beds with shredded leaves!

Garlic has a better survival rate when mulch is applied. Mulch insulates and prevents the freezing. Also it helps conserve soil moisture and provide w**d control.

Photos from Nithin's Farm's post 10/24/2023

Last week finished garlic & cabbage planting after another round of good rains!

We started well ahead to pull the old/dead plants (Long beans, Gongura & Okras) and make an another good compost pile!

Fall is the best time & climate to work on to clean-up your garden and also for adding leaf mulch!
