Writing in a Journal plays a big part in creating my vision. Journaling helps me to clear any blocks, see truth and gives me clarity. I do this daily.

With 2023 coming to end and Joule salon’s fifteen anniversary approaching in 2024.
I found myself asking myself, what is next for me?
What else can I do?
I’ve reached my goals!
I still have more inside me!
How can I reach my God given potential?

The answer is……it’s right here in front of me!

Why is it when we reach our goals or a certain point in our careers we start to think we have to retire, stop and do something else?
We start looking outside of ourselves for something else, when it’s all right in front of us.
Creativity doesn’t grow old its lives inside of us.
I had the opportunity to serve a guest today who was not scheduled for a haircut only a color service and at the last minute she asked if I could cut her hair.
Instead of saying NO, I said YES.
I was grateful for the opportunity to cut her hair, it was more of a gift to me.
It allowed me to get in touch with my creative self again and connect on a deep level.
We had beautiful and meaningful conversations.
I actually loved it!

I am learning to let things just happen & unfold the way they are supposed to and not how I think they should.

I feel younger & better than I ever have.
I have more energy than I have ever had and I am excited to see what is next for me, the sky is not the limit, it’s just the top.

Meet Lou, my husband and business partner.
If you are thinking about starting a business you will definitely need a LOU!

There is so much I didn’t know about the financial end of owning a business, this is where Lou shines.

His degree and experience is in business and organization.
He manages all the back end of our salon company and he does it masterfully.

I could not do what I do on the front end so effortlessly without having Lou do what he does on the back end, we trust each other to do our best.

You may see him zip in and out to cater to my every need and the needs of our staff.
Our salon thrives because of Lou and his meticulous financial management.

I always enjoy sharing the story of how I found the location of Joule.
I re-share this story with new employees all the time, it gives them insight to what I value as well as the many lessons learned.

Before I was the owner of Joule, I worked as a stylist in this same location.
When I met The former owner, she told me she just came back from maternity leave and she had a team walk out.
I was devastated for her noticing how exhausted she was from being a new mom, her lack of sleep, the stress of running a business and the reality of having to rebuild.

I was hired under the conditions knowing that she couldn't afford to pay me a salary, it was commission only!
She mentioned she didn’t have an abundance of clients to give me but I could build on the new clients that would call in. (In 2001 there was no social media)
I took the position knowing I have no
Clientele, I could potentially not have a walk-in client and not make any money.
I didn't care, I just wanted to help her

As I waited for clients to walk in, I looked for opportunities to be helpful so I cleaned her salon, shampooed her clients, swept her floor, washed bowls, answered her phones and checked out her clients.
Remember, I was not getting paid hourly!
I became excited to have a purpose and help her rebuild the salon.
The next day I brought all my flower pots and a pretty bench.
I place them in the front of the salon to attract clients.
I did all this because I just wanted to help her get on her feet and to lift her burden.
Slowly clients started coming in ,and the salon was growing again.
Over time she offered the salon location to me which is the current Joule location.
I never wanted anything in return yet I was blessed a thousand times over.
When I took over the salon, I have and had many employees who did what I did, gave so much of themselves to help grow joule so we could create a community where people would feel connected.
Not many people would work for free nor would I ever expect anyone to do what I did.
I honestly never thought about it and I would absolutely do it again.

✨Sharing my dream?✨
I grew up in a family of salon owners.
I knew at a young age I would most likely follow this path.
There was a salon on Long Island I always admired called Maximus.
It was were you would go if you wanted a great haircut or color.
They were a Market Leader Salon.
This salon was the vision that led me on a quest to find out how to become a market leader Top 100 Salon.

This was during a time when no one shared their secrets to success and there was no internet to search great leaders! You were on your own to figure it out.

It wasn’t until years later that I attended a Strictly Business class (now Summit Salon Business Center) that led me on my journey to be a Market Leader Salon.
At Summit , they taught me how to put systems in place and to surround myself with a supportive team & coaches.
It was definitely “hard work” but it was also knowledge they helped me grow.

I say, keep walking in the direction of your dream, take that risk and the God/Universe will bless you and give you signs that you are on the right path as it did for me!
