Fun event hosted by Town of Fuquay-Varina. They’ve done a great job with their downtown revitalization efforts and I’m glad to see town leadership working hard to preserve a sense of community. Happy National Ice Cream Day! 🍦

‼️NEW Property Tax Bill Now Available‼️

I didn’t get a 35% raise over the last 3 years…
But, that’s exactly how much MY property tax bill increased over that same time for the same house.

Find your tax new tax bill at: https://services.wake.gov/ptax/main/billing/

Rising property taxes make it harder for everyone but especially those on fixed incomes. This problem isn’t unique to Wake County or even North Carolina. Rising property values have forced many long-time residents out of other urban and suburban areas across the country.

But, I’m not just writing to complain today. Other states have taken steps to rein in run-away property tax increases- and we can too!

Legislatures across the country are addressing this issue and tax reform should be on the forefront of legislative priorities for North Carolina going into the 2025 session.

There is an opportunity to do some real good and I’m a firm believer in taking the best ideas from across the country for a bipartisan approach that assists homeowners (and renters).

For those hurting now, I encourage you to check out what Wake County and North Carolina offer for some groups like low-income seniors and disabled veterans at:
https://www.wake.gov/tax-assistance-programs

If you feel like your property was overvalued in the most recent reevaluation there is an appeal process. However, the deadline for appeal has passed without most homeowners even being aware.

I believe that transparency from all elected and appointed government officials is crucial to maintain accountability, improve public trust, and prevent corruption. I look forward to working with an informed electorate that is participatory and I promise to always be responsive and professional, regardless of ideological differences.

I hope you see that I’m ready to work for you on day one.

You can find more details about my background and plan to better our community at https://votescottlassiter.com/ but if you have any questions or want to share your thoughts with me, please don’t hesitate to send me a text, email or even give me a call — I mean it! Great morning in Town of Garner, NC Government with Mayor Gupton. Enjoyed hearing about the sccesses of this town. My grandfather lived a stones through away from town hall for 50+ years and raised his family there. I’d be proud to represent this community in the Senate next year! As their town motto says “It’s a Great Place To Be!”

Today, we honor the 80th anniversary of D-Day, a day that changed the course of history and demonstrated extraordinary courage, sacrifice, and unity. On June 6, 1944, brave soldiers from the Allied forces stormed the beaches of Normandy, facing unimaginable odds to liberate Europe from tyranny.

We remember the thousands of heroes who laid down their lives for our freedom and the countless others who returned home forever changed by the horrors of war. Their bravery and selflessness serve as a powerful reminder of the cost of freedom and the resilience of the human spirit.

As we reflect on this monumental day, let us pay tribute to the veterans who fought valiantly and those who continue to serve our nation. May we honor their legacy by striving for peace, standing against oppression, and cherishing the freedoms they secured for us.

The destruction or vandalism of property has no appropriate place in political discourse. I implore our law enforcement officials to work to make arrests in such cases and our district attorneys to prosecute.

Arlington National Cemetery, May 31, 1982: "The United States and the freedom for which it stands, the freedom for which they died, must endure and prosper. Their lives remind us that freedom is not bought cheaply. It has a cost; it imposes a burden. And just as they whom we commemorate were willing to sacrifice, so too must we—in a less final, less heroic way—be willing to give of ourselves." President Ronald Reagan.

4 years ago I campaigned to work to preserve open space and farmland in Wake County. This week, after a great deal of collaboration, planning, innovation, and hard-work the Wake Soil and Water Conservation District was honored by Steve Troxler - NC Commissioner of Agriculture for our work preserving farms- all without raising taxes!

Pleased to be in our nations capital during . Beautiful vigil. Moving ceremony by the Chicago Police Department honoring two officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. Impressive honor guard presentation by San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. Anyone who dedicates their career to serving others is deserving of respect in my book.

Also got to visit with US Agriculture staff (important partners in my current role) and stop by both of our Senators’ offices. Met with some impressive minds from Pacific Legal Foundation.

Joe didn’t invite us in 😕.

Shoutout to the Amtrak Police Officer who gave me an es**rt all the way from DC to Cary on the Silver Star! But seriously, thankful for their services to keep our rails safe for all riders and crew.

“Lassiter said education often gets short-changed “in this hyper-partisan environment we live in.”

“There are some things that are too important to play politics, there are some things that transcend party lines,” he said. “And that should be our investment in our North Carolina public schools.”

Lassiter said the General Assembly, including his fellow Republicans, must do more to respect and support teachers. If elected, he said he will be “laser focused” on providing more content resources for educators, in addition to teacher compensation.“

It’s truly humbling to have been surrounded by family, friends, neighbors, public servants, veterans, business leaders, and my own former teachers and students at my fundraising reception last night.

I remain committed to optimistic problem-solving instead of empty rhetoric. With a groundswell of support from disillusioned voters who previously gave up on electoral politics and longtime political leaders alike, we’re on the precipice of something great!

Thank you all for your support and continued contributions of time, talent, and treasure. It all matters!

On this Teachers Appreciation Week I’d be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge those who made my final graduation last weekend possible.

Countless public educators at the primary, secondary, and collegiate levels have poured into me making this possible. I dedicated my dissertation to the hundreds of thousands of current and former educators and staff who’ve spent their careers in the halls of NC schools in all positions from custodians to superintendents striving to improve our states future. This doctorate isn’t just mine- it belongs to all of them.

It has been my life’s most fulfilling work to be an educator and I look forward to continuing to advocate for our students, educators, and an improved system altogether.

Oh, and GO PACK! 🐺

As the assistant principal of a county alternative middle school, I’m serving lots of Raleigh students and in that school I see these officers come not to arrest, but to mentor and to do the important community police work. I am honored to have been asked to speak on their behalf.

With the current police pay scale, our officers are suffering and so are the communities they’ve honorably taken an oath to protect.

While I understand firsthand the difficulties of balancing a budget as a council member, the numbers present a clear picture. Without increased pay, our capital city is not only struggling with vacancies, we are losing trained and seasoned officers.

We must

It’s a strange feeling when those I’m used to calling on for help call on me for help. That’s exactly what’s happening now as officers from the Raleigh Police Department and the Raleigh Police Protective Association have reached out for my support for more equitable and appropriate compensation. It’s beyond time that City of Raleigh - Government steps up for those who serve and protect.

Please see my call to action in my campaign’s press release. Tuesday night at 7pm- let’s pack the council chambers. I’ll be speaking and there will be a press conference at city hall at 6:30. Signs of support will be provided. You may sign up to speak but that’s not necessary- Just your presence. https://raleighnc.gov/government/events/city-council-public-comment-session-16 to sign up to speak or https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdtdZ2uBixJeJQrln7azQM-NwGpw_jzx_tpHwuuQ9vGEqHjnw/viewform to sign the petition for equitable wages.

Supporting our 1st responders should not be a partisan issue. It’s an issue that affects us all. We can’t deescalate situations and avoid criminal acts without timely responses or proactive policing. We can’t protect life and property without proper recruitment and retention. We know how to solve this problem. Believe me, it’s bad.

Back The Blue NC, Inc., Wake GOP, Wake County Democratic Party, and all elected officials/candidates: Looking for your support!

“One thing the resurrection teaches us is that we must not trust appearances. The leafless tree says by its appearance that there will be no second spring. The body in Joseph’s new tomb appears to signify the end of everything for Christ and His disciples. The limp form of a newly dead believer suggests everlasting defeat, yet how wrong are all these appearances. The tree will bloom again. Christ arose the third day according to the Scriptures, and the Christian will rise at the shout of the Lord and the voice of the archangel. Faith can afford to accept the appearance of defeat, knowing the true believer cannot be defeated finally.” Aiden Wilson Tozer
