What is RE Bar Camp?
Real Estate Bar Camp is like no other event you've ever attended. Rick Jacobson said it best “ RE Bar Camp is a place where people are passionate about what they know and are willing to share it freely with those who are hungry to learn”.
How do I maximize my REBarCamp experience?
1. Pick sessions of interest to you.
2. Participate, ask questions.
3. If you hear someone speak about something interesting, find them later and connect in the hallway.
4. Spontaneous sessions happen – embrace them!
What if I don’t want to lead a session?
You don’t have to! Some people like to lead, other people like to listen, but don’t hesitate to ask questions.
Is this a recruiting event?
Absolutely not. It is a one day mastermind with agents and real estate professionals from all walks of the industry, with the sole purpose of coming together as a community to grow, learn, and network.
REBarCamp is a BarCamp for Real Estate (R.E. BarCamp). What that means is that the event is not structured like a typical planned conference. Every session is not planned out in advance. No one is paid to deliver a session. Anybody can deliver a session and attendees are strongly encouraged to participate.
If anyone can deliver a session/lead a conversation, isn't there a chance that may be terrible?
Possibly, but it is not typical. Some of the best and brightest minds attend these events. They lead sessions and they sit in on sessions. REBarCampRDU sessions are group sessions. They are not meant to be presentations by a single individual.
Will vendors be selling or promoting their services?
No, this is a no sales pitch/no logo event. No one will have products to distribute, sell, or promote at the event. Conversations promoting specific commercial products or companies are strongly discouraged.
If you feel like you’re being sold, or if a session is not to your liking and your participation can’t turn it around, practice the rule of two feet – get up and walk out. No one will be offended - promise!
Will our email addresses be given out to vendors and or sponsors?
Absolutely not! The purpose of this event is to come together as a community in a one day mastermind setting, not to sell your information to anyone. Please note: if you don’t want your email to show on the Yapp App, don’t include it! The App is seen by all Attendees.
Will the schedule of sessions be distributed ahead of time?
No, because the audience will contribute to the decisions on sessions on the day of the event. A preliminary idea of what topics will be scheduled will be included in our communications.
How are sessions going to be set up for the day?
Since we won't know the schedule until that morning we can only give you an idea of a preliminary schedule. Doors open at 8:15. Registration starts at 8:30, keynote speaker 9:00 AM and the schedule begins at 10:15 with breakout sessions set at 45 minutes each in multiple rooms. There will be a lunch break in between.
That sounds like chaos. How is that productive?
It can be a little chaotic, but some of the best ideas and inventions are derived out of chaos. “Chaos Creates Opportunities.” If you go in looking for a very structured day, you will be disappointed. What you get out of our REBarCampRDU event is what you put into it.
What topics are covered in the sessions?
This depends completely on who volunteers to lead a session. The sessions are frequently related to technology usage in real estate but cover any topic from mortgages, to photography to philanthropy.
Who runs the REBARCamp events?
REBarCamps are run completely by unpaid volunteers
