As we look back on 2022 we remember the 10 destinations, our 4 camping trips, and 2 outings. We welcomed 2 new members while another 2 achieved their Eagle. 3 scouts increased their ranks while others strived to concur new merit badges. Together 3 Eagle Service Projects were completed, 1 parade was marched, 1 flag was raised, saluted, lowered, and folded, while 100s of others were presented by headstones and over 400 hours of service was contributed to the community. Countless memories were made cooking over campfires, walking to the Frosty Fog, conversations and debates ensued while hiking and canoeing, new experiences lead to new hobbies, and we gained another year of knowledge which will last a lifetime.

As an American involved in Scouting, our scouts that strive towards the rank of Eagle will need to earn their Citizenship in the Nation Merit Badge. This badge builds on what it means to be a good citizen and provides Scouts the knowledge and means to create a positive change in their country. Being an informed citizen is critical, especially in today’s chaotic political climate. By understanding the foundations of our democracy and being a good citizen in the community, Scouts instill the scouting spirit in others and guide our country towards a better future for generations to come!

What is an Eagle Scout Service Project?

This is an opportunity for a Scout looking to obtain the highly distiguished Eagle Ranking by showcasing their leadership skills while educating and motivating others during the completion of a project that benefit's their community.

The Scout must idenify a need within their community and develop a plan to fulfil the need. They then must take their written proposal and present it to their Scout Leader, Unit Committee and a District Representative for approval. Upon approval they may begin the necessary steps to achieve their goal which may include fundraising and/or grant applications and working alongside city officals for permit applications. Then utilizing their networking skills organize a task force and create a "work" schedule to bring their efforts to fruitation. Once the project is finalized the Scout again creates a self evaluation of the methods of leadership they demonstrated, any problems they encountered and how the conflicted was resolved, and lastly what impact their project had on the community.
