The manufacturer of the branded inhaler Flovent has been discontinued. An identical medication is now available as an authorized generic. However, the generic may not be on your insurance formularies. As always, discuss with your allergist and check your plan or with your pharmacy if due for new prescription.

Problems are expected after an asthma inhaler is replaced with generic version A popular asthma inhaler is being discontinued. Although there is a generic version, the switch could lead to disruptions in care because not all insurance companies are covering it.

We also recommend calling your new insurance company prior to your visit to ensure we are still within your network and to see if any of the costs or fees involved with your appointment have changed under your new plan.
