Dessert and dominos to end a quiet Christmas Day. These Flaming Snowballs from the Foggy Bottoms Boys’ new ice cream shop in Lo**ta were reminiscent of a favorite treat from childhood, and they sure did live up to our expectations. Go grab some for yourself before they are retired until next holiday season. You’ll be glad you did!

I am so sad that I am missing the Alameda Holiday Boutique this weekend. It has been my very favorite event since 2016, and I will miss all of my amazing customers, and the talented venders this year. I will have jam available later in November, so watch this space for updates, and let me know what type of jam you’d like this year.

It’s that time of year again! I’m excited to announce that Cathy and I will once again be participating in the Alameda Holiday Boutique! Join us this Saturday and Sunday from 10 to 4 for two days of spectacular shopping! We’ll have a lot of favorites from years past, including Christmas, Meyer Lemon Vanilla, wine jellies, and because they were such a hit last year, the Charcuterie set is making another appearance, featuring Bourbon Fig, Strawberry Balsamic Black Pepper and Blackberry Sage. I’m also excited to announce that I finally have a low sugar jelly to share this year. Stay tuned for more info, and don’t forget to swing by the Alameda Holiday Boutique this weekend!

I’m thrilled to have a booth right next to the Alameda Meals on Wheels mimosa booth again this year, and will once again be donating all proceeds from the sale of my mimosa jelly to Meals on Wheels! Can’t wait to see you then!

I'm excited to participate in a fun holiday pop-up event this Sunday, November 28, from 11am to 1pm here in Castro Valley. I'll be there with some of my best sellers, along with a great selection of small local businesses, including Baketastics (holiday sweet treats), Maravelous Nails (Color Street products), Scout & Cellar Wines (ship wines directly to you!), Mimis Bites (Breakfast Bites for your upcoming holiday brunch), VJs Art (beautiful acrylic pour jewelry), Life Expressions Decor (fun pre-made signs for your home).

We had a fabulous weekend in Alameda! We saw so many returning customers, enjoyed meeting new customers, we shopped with the awesome vendors, had some amazing food from M&J Culinary Creations, and we sold jam… so much jam! Thank you for coming out to support Bay Area small businesses, and a very special thanks my sister, Cathy, for traveling down from Oroville to spend the weekend with me, for her organization skills, and her much needed help, and to the Alameda Holiday Boutique Planning Committee for organizing such a well planned, advertised and safe event. Can’t wait to see you all again next year!

Blackberry Sage

I’ve been so blessed recently with fresh fruit from members of my local group. Apricots last week, and blackberries this week. Apricot is straight apricot, no “funny stuff”, and I’m thinking I will juice the blackberries for a seedless blackberry jelly. What do you think? Should I let the delicious fruit shine, or perhaps add a little sage, merlot, or maybe a bit of bourbon? Oh, and if you aren’t a member of your local Buy Nothing Group, what are you waiting for?
