will be teaching all classes on Mondays and Fridays in addition to his current schedule to bring more black belt instruction to the Firehouse. There are NO KIDS CLASSES ON WEDNESDAYS. There is a gi one mat for all levels at 11 am that will be part rolling part learning from one another. There will be a black or brown belt at class to support your growth. Lastly, Friday night will be member, affiliates and invites only as we develop a leg lock system in lab and gave some fun new innovations for Fight Club. See y’all in the mats!!

updates and reminders everyone about for this summer. is teaching all classes on Mondays and Fridays ( in addition to all other classes he currently teaches)to bring you the black belt instruction you deserve. On Wednesdays we will be rocking the pajamas at 11 am open mats in addition to our 6pm classes. We have early bird, mid afternoon and evening classes during the week to fit everyone’s schedule. We welcome visitors and friends every day in every class except Friday nights. Fridays are members and invite only to leg lock lab and Fight night where we will be innovating and evolving the classes based on members ability, goals and interests. Care y’all on the mats!

A quick note on the Fuji Tournament yesterday. We brought for her first tournament where she achieved and maintained dominant positions for 2 wins and the gold. took gold with a fantastic false iminari to straight ankle lock and sadly his second opponent got injured during a kimura and tapped due to lock and the injury. His third opponent did not show. We also met .iii from HQ and coached him to gold including a 32-2 win. I want to thank the competitors and .v.k_ and for coming through. We are and will remain a small tight knit crew. It’s so important and appreciated that coaches come through and coach. Thank you to all the members who roll with us and help us improve together. Summer schedule is now official. More open mats, more rolling. Early bird classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Kids 4x per week. Maybe d day classes 3x per week with an added gi open mat on Wednesdays. And weeknight classes everyday in addition to Saturdays. Come level up with us!

4th of July 2024 schedule will be 600am no gi. 11-1 open mat. Open to all affiliations free of charge. No classes at night. See you in the mats.

Rebecca’s first match as a blue belt and did incredibly well. Excellent movement great attacks. Came up a little short but definitely game. We got to meet the legend and face off vs his lively and savage wife. An excellent day in the Bronx. . is the best run eve@t I’ve attended. Coaches corner with peanut butter jelly sandwiches. Yes. On time. Yes. Beautiful space. Yes.

It’s hot outside. But don’t let that stop you from coming in, training your hearts out and progressing. While they rest. We work. Thank you to everyone that’s continuing to push through the heat and scraps to make themselves and each other better. Not just in jiu jitsu but as people. Overcoming challenges. Pushing past limits.

Jiu jitsu can be painful. We are manipulating joints and seeking strangulation. That being said, it’s called the gentle art for a reason. We can train 100% to submission and not hurt one another because if the amount of control we have ( physically and mentally). We have far less injuries than football and futbol. So some down to the firehouse , learn some technique, get in some rolls and know that your safety and keeping you moderately pain free (it’s a combat sport) is our priority. Ossssss

2 competitions. 6 competitors. 1 belt. 5 gold. 2 silver. 1 bronze. And a new blue belt. I started the firehouse with a dream of building a community of hard working people doing honest jiu jitsu. I’ve been in survival mode the last 18 months but lately I feel like we are hitting growth mode. Having people believe in my coaching, leadership and systems is humbling. Watching students grow through comp is affirming. Thank you and Michael and Troy for putting it on the line and competing like champions. Thank you .v.k_ for being the consummate jiu jitsu parents and part of the firehouse team. Thank you to every member of the firehouse, every visitor that trains with us and all the families that allow their mates to do this crazy s**t 3-5 times a week. Thank you for believing in me and the upstate squad. I appreciate all of the work you put in and could not be more proud of the results. Let’s keep pushing forward each other to improve and grow our community.

A lot of us see the pro athletes like Gordon Ryan or Mike Musemeci training hours a day every day. But for most people this just isn’t realistic or practical. We have families, jobs and life obligations and responsibilities that are important. Some of us aren’t in pro athlete age ranges and our bodies can only train so much before burn out. We constrain athletes who compete at the firehouse. They might do the 10-20 hours per week. But most people see massive improvements in their physical well being -and ability to defend themselves more effectively training 2-3 times a week with consistency. See you on the mats!
